• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm scared. I'm frightened I'm not saved, yet I did believe in God and the Gospel because He gave me faith. I've sinned so much though, the other night I think God gave me over to my sin, and the consequence was feeling completely alone, like I was the only one in existence, like solipsism. I think God gave me a spirit of unbelief because of my hardened heart, and I don't know how to get out of it. I'm considering suicide because I don't want to sin any more and increase my punishment in hell. If you can, please help.

The fact that you are on this site indicates to me that your heart is not hardened yet I think it's Satan who is trying to make you feel condemned. If you were condemned you wouldn't even care about God at all. Everyone sins, if a person says they don't they have told you a lie. We are forgiven sinners! All you have to do is profess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and accept him as your Lord and savior and repent (repenting is a lifetime ordeal). Once you have accepted Jesus he has entered into your heart and you are now eternal. I would ask help for your depression if I were you. They can give you medication to help you feel better and you can talk to a specialist. Also pray to Jesus that he may grant you joy and happiness. I recommend joining a church family if you are not apart of one.

If you confess Jesus is Lord you do not have a spirit of unbelief.. we no longer walk by our feelings but we walk by faith and his word. He has not given us the spirit of fear or unbelief.

hope this helps

Dear Derek,

I'm hoping you are feeling better by now. As you know we are all sinners except for Jesus. We all fall short and need Christ to guide us and forgive us. I used to think in a similar manner that as a Christian we must not sin. But, now, after being a Christian for awhile, I realize we all sin no matter how hard we try not to sin. And, God forgives us for being sinners. He sent His only son Jesus to die for our sins to offer us eternal salvation. Thus, I would stop worrying about being a sinner. We all are sinners. Guilty feelings from such thoughts are well understood. But, God is understanding and gives us the "benefit of the doubt", meaning He believes what we say even though it may or may not be true. It may or may not be a sin in God's eyes, but according to us our sins seem inexcusable as a Christian. Since God forgives, we also need to forgive ourselves after recognizing we made have erred. This is the best we can do. We are not perfect like Jesus. None of us are. This is the reason we need Christ to show us the way and to guide us in our thoughts and behavior.

As for suicide, I have attempted suicide a few times myself but have survived. The last time I attempted was about eight years ago. After losing my job and being all alone, I took some sleeping pills and put a plastic bag over my head and said,"This is it!" and fell asleep. Well, I woke up the next morning with plastic bag off my head next to me and a voice telling me softly,"You have so much to live for!" Thus, I ran to the church the next weekend. This action saved my life since I was no longer alone and even though I lost my job, I had something to look forward to doing. The point is that an angel saved my life and directed me to God again. God is there and watching over you, me, and all of us. I believe, God wanted me to return to Him since at the time I lost my job, I lost contact with the church and other Christians. God has His reasons. He saved my life by sending an angel to re-direct my life to the narrow path towards heaven.

Now, I am doing fine. I thank God for saving my life from attempted suicide. I have learned so much about my strengths through my times of weakness. God has always been there for me. And, He is there always for you too. I understand your despair. But, God understands too. He is watching you. Thus, live life each day to the fullest. I would not worry about the future too much, since God has a plan for you. Through our suffering, God is making us stronger. So, don't feel as if you are all alone. You are not! We all have our times of desperation. How we choose to react during these times is a lesson we have to learn to survive and thrive. I feel your pain. May all the prayers said on your behalf be answered in due time. God bless!

Hey guys, I will be your shoulder to cry on, and your ears to listen to you if you ever need anything. God has given me a loving heart and I have a lot of love to give to the hurting. PM me if you need help.

Remember, that suicide is not the answer though. People who are unsaved and commit suicide go to hell, only increasing their problems.
