My experience on this forum has convinced me that I should seriously consider Islam. If any Muslims on this forum have suggestions for me, please contact me privately. I plan to start by reading the Haleem translation of the Quran.

I would suggest to try to find the right sect before declaring Shahada if you are convinced of Islam. The reason why is that way, you will feel no attachments to people you converted to.

Unlike in Christianity, in Islam, all sects are said to be in hell except the rightly guided one.

Here is some notable things I found in Islam.

The Rejection of the "Taghut" and establishment of the Authority of God

The leaders and guardians of disbelievers are said to be the "Taghut". Judges whom judge by other then justice and God's revelation, are said to be instances of the "Taghut". The Taghut is the Satanic Guardianship/Authority upon humanity.

The Quran teaches that this authority must be rejected. Instead you are to cling to the Mastership of God. God sent Prophets so that humanity would rise up for justice, and has commanded to justice and to rule by justice.

This is why just pious knowledgeable rulers should rule humanity. In the words of Quran, whom is a better judge/ruler then God for a people whom are sure.

The Quran says not to obey an evil or ungrateful one. Thus good and grateful servants of God should be whom are obeyed and followed.

Remembrance of God and peace of heart.

It is by the remembrance of God that hearts are set to peace per Quran. Humanity has been created for Worship of God out of favour to them. Is in God people will find peace. Salah is said to be for remembrance of God.

Totally detachment to the World

In Quran and mutuwatir Sunni and Shia hadiths, the world is to be totally detached from per teachings of the Prophet. In fact, the consequence per Quran of being attached/loving the life of this world, is eternal hell fire. So this is not only a desirable thing to attain, but is a total must and is a total obligation.

To illustrate the great truth of Islam

Study of Islam is different already heard from the media
Feel that there is someone fool you
And wants to walk away from the truth

allah says in the Holy Qur'an

157. Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write (i.e.Muhammad

) whom they find written with them in the Taurat (Torah) (Deut, xviii, 15) and the Injeel (Gospel) (John xiv, 16), - he commands them for Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam has ordained); and forbids them from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden); he allows them as lawful At-Taiyibat [(i.e. all good and lawful) as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.], and prohibits them as unlawful Al-Khaba'ith (i.e. all evil and unlawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.), he releases them from their heavy burdens (of Allah's Covenant), and from the fetters (bindings) that were upon them. So those who believe in him (Muhammad

), honour him, help him, and follow the light (the Qur'an) which has been sent down with him, it is they who will be successful.

And some wrong doings in the Arab and Islamic countries

In the Holy Qur'an and the Hadith
Solutions to all problems of society[/FONT]

Opening words of the Holy Qur'an and Bukhari

Research and study

62. Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and do righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve .

Interpretation of the verse mentioned: Those who believe in Muhammad peace be upon him,

And those (Jews) are believed Moses, peace be upon him, and died on that mission befor Jesus peace be upon him, or Adrkoh and believe in him,

And (Christians) are those who believe in Jesus peace be upon him, and died on it before realizing Muhammad peace be upon him or Adrkoh and believe in him,

And Alsabion): people who are followers of previous Prophets.

All of them are safe in God and the Last Day and the sincerity of the Prophet who was sent to him and he died on that reward with his Lord

Those who knew the Prophet peace be upon him but he refused his message did not believe in it is an infidel does not accept it other than Islam, and Islam is the religion of God who sent him all his prophets, and its meaning: surrender and obedience to God, His Messengers and ratification of all, he says ((19) Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Isla m) he says (85) And whoever desires other than Isl m as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers. he says (13) He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus - to establish the religion and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with Allah is that to which you invite them. Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him] he says (132) And Abraham instructed his sons [to do the same] and [so did] Jacob, [saying], "O my sons, indeed Allah has chosen for you this religion, so do not die except while you are Muslims. "

He said the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him "and that the soul of Muhammad in his hand; does not listen to me one of this nation a Jew or a Christian, then die not believe in Him who sent, but it was the people of Hell. " Narrated by Muslim.

Hence it is known there is no contradiction between the verse in question, and the other verse ((19) Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam )

From Abu Hurayrah, the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him, he said, "and that the soul of Muhammad in his hand, does not listen to me one of this nation a Jew, nor Christian, then die not believe in Him who sent it, but it was the owners of the fire."

My experience on this forum has convinced me that I should seriously consider Islam. If any Muslims on this forum have suggestions for me, please contact me privately. I plan to start by reading the Haleem translation of the Quran.
I would encourage you to instead turn to God who came down to earth as Jesus Christ and died on the cross for you. Accepting His love and believing in Him will not only mean you will go to heaven after you die, but that your life in this world will be used by God to bring good to others and glorify Him.

Also... about what was said earlier regarding Islaamic sects believing that other sects are going to Hell... I don't see it that way.

There is a hadith that tells that the Jews split up into all sorts of groups and that all those groups would be (at least temporarily) in the Hellfire, and that Christians too split up into all sorts of groups (more than Jews) and that all those groups except one would also have to at least make a pit stop in Hell and finally, the Muslims who will be split up into even more groups, also with only one being saved from any Hellfire pit stops or final abodes... so, of course, those listening ask who those are, and the reply is those who follow the way of the prophet and those who succeed him in guidance and righteousness... in other narrations, "the jamaa'ah"... which has many interpretations, one of which is the 'mainstream', or bulk... but there are others.

However, I think it is very presumptuous for any group to claim that their "group" is the saved sect and that others are doomed... most likely it's that members of most of the different "groups" out there are part of those who follow the true way and some who don't.

The secret is to study, study, study... the more you learn about the earliest adherents of a religion, the more you'll know what it really was meant to be like.

Have you not read the Quran? Remember when reading the Quran it is has not been compiled in chronological order, but sort of by length of verse.

Mohammad spoke the most peaceful verses first then the more violent ones. There is this verse to erase any confusion as to which of the contradicting verses to follow.

016.101YUSUFALI: When We substitute one revelation for another,- and Allah knows best what He reveals (in stages),- they say, "Thou art but a forger": but most of them understand not.
PICKTHAL: And when We put a revelation in place of (another) revelation, - and Allah knoweth best what He revealeth - they say: Lo! thou art but inventing. Most of them know not.
SHAKIR: And when We change (one) communication for (another) communication, and Allah knows best what He reveals, they say: You are only a forger. Nay, most of them do not know.

Better verses come later:
002.106YUSUFALI: None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?
PICKTHAL: Nothing of our revelation (even a single verse) do we abrogate or cause be forgotten, but we bring (in place) one better or the like thereof. Knowest thou not that Allah is Able to do all things?
SHAKIR: Whatever communications We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring one better than it or like it. Do you not know that Allah has power over all things?

"Islam would be a matter of complete indifference to every non-Muslim were it not for its political and supremacist aspects, particularly the elements of Sharia that deny basic rights to women and non-Muslims and eliminate the freedom of conscience and freedom of speech." -Anonymous

Have you not read the Quran? Remember when reading the Quran it is has not been compiled in chronological order, but sort of by length of verse.

Mohammad spoke the most peaceful verses first then the more violent ones.

This is completely untrue and has been rejected by even western Academics.

Many verses were revealed during the Medina period, such as the "No Compulsion in Religion" and;
Allah says: “So if they dispute with you, say ‘I have submitted my whole self to Allah, and so have those who follow me.’ And say to the People of the Scripture and to the unlearned: ‘Do you also submit yourselves?’ If they do, then they are on right guidance. But if they turn away, your duty is only to convey the Message. And in Allah’s sight are all of His servants.” [Sûrah Âl `Imrân: 20]

Allah says: “The Messenger’s duty is but to proclaim the Message.” [Sûrah al-Mâ’idah: 99]

It is important to note that these last two verses were revealed in Madinah. This is significant, since it shows that the ruling they gave was not just contingent on the Muslims being in Mecca in a state of weakness, but is valid for all time.

“Let there be no compulsion in religion.” | IslamToday - English
Furthermore;
The Islamophobes claim that Muhammad only preached patience, forgiveness, and tolerance during the Meccan Period. They argue further that the “opportunistic” Muhammad opted towards militarism, violence, and war as soon as he came to power in Medina. And yet, the events surrounding this Quranic revelation (i.e. the killing/mutilating of Muhammad’s uncle, and the command for Muhammad to endure it with patience and forgiveness) occurred well into the Medinan Period. In fact, it occurred at the height of the military conflict with the Meccan pagans.

What is even more telling is the fact that once Muhammad and the early Muslims conquered Mecca, Muhammad granted the Meccans pardon and mercy. If the critics of Islam attribute Muhammad’s peaceful attitude during the early Meccan Period to his lack of power to do otherwise, then what of Muhammad’s triumphal return to Mecca whereupon he had all the power in the world to take limitless vengeance upon them? Muhammad’s tolerant nature towards his Quraysh enemies cannot be explained by the meekness of his position, because he maintained that attitude when he had the power to crush them as they had tried to do to him aforetime.

I don't think you have any clue about what "abrogation" means in Islam. To get an understanding of it, you should read this.

Also, the peaceful verses were not "abrogated" by the "violent" verses. If you can show me where this happened, I can happily explain it in detail to you.

"Islam would be a matter of complete indifference to every non-Muslim were it not for its political and supremacist aspects, particularly the elements of Sharia that deny basic rights to women and non-Muslims and eliminate the freedom of conscience and freedom of speech." -Anonymous

It would have to be an anonymous quote otherwise revealing the author would probably destroy all credibility as it always tends to be someone controversial or without much reliability.

Sometimes I wonder if just by any group claiming they are the saved sect they haven't just proved they are anything but.

God knows what is true -- for us maybe humility is a safer course.

Yeah, I think so.
