Okay, here's another song I know you guys don't knowso I'll just post it. It reminds me of my childhood in the south.
Artist: Don Williams
Song: Good Ole Boys Like Me
When I was a kid Uncle Remus he put me to bed,
With a picture of Stonewall Jackson above my head.
Then daddy came in to kiss his little man,
With gin on his breath and a Bible in his hand,
He talked about honor and things I should know.
Then he'd stagger a little as he went out the door.
CHORUS:
I can still hear the soft Southern winds in the live oak trees.
And those Williams boys they still mean a lot to me
Hank and Tennessee.
I guess we're all gonna be what we're gonna be.
So what do you do with good ole boys like me.
Nothing makes a sound in the night like the wind does.
But you ain't afraid if you're washed in the blood like I was.
The smell of cape jasmine thru the window screen.
John R. and the Wolfman kept me company.
By the light of the radio by my bed,
With Thomas Wolfe whispering in my head.
I can still hear the soft Southern winds in the live oak trees.
And those Williams boys they still mean a lot to me
Hank and Tennessee.
I guess we're all gonna be what we're gonna be.
So what do you do with good ole boys like me.
When I was in school I ran with kid down the street.
But I watched him burn himself up on bourbon and speed.
But I was smarter than most and I could choose,
Learned to talk like the man on the six o'clock news.
When I was eighteen, Lord, I hit the road.
But it really doesn't matter how far I go.
I can still hear the soft Southern winds in the live oak trees.
And those Williams boys they still mean a lot to me
Hank and Tennessee.
I guess we're all gonna be what we're gonna be.
So what do you do with good ole boys like me.
Actually, one of my all time favorite songs and one of my favorite artists. I say that, but I only know two of his songs. This one and err...I Believe In Love.
It's a good one.Once in the highlands. . . .
There's a place for us, somewhere a place for us. . .

can we do showtunes? I love showtunes?

these are easy ones - I can make them much harder![]()
I'm so glad we had this time together,
Just to have a laugh, or sing a song.
Seems we just got started and before you know it
Comes the time we have to say, 'So long.'
There's a time you put aside for dreamin',
And a time for things you have to do.
The time I love the best is in the evening -
I can spend a moment here with you.
When the time comes that I'm feelin lonely,
And I'm feelin' ohooooo - so blue,
I just sit back and think of you, only,
And the Happiness still comes through.
That's why I'm glad we had this time together,
'Cause it makes me feel like I belong.
Seems we just got started and before you know it
Comes the time we have to say, 'So long.'
Good night everyone!![]()

There is a wonderful version of this song by Selah. They sing this, then go into "If We Never Meet Again This Side of Heaven". With my husband's health problems, well, obviously, with us being so young, it was just very scary to face that we may not have another 30 years together. I was having anxiety attacks about it until I heard that song. It really, really helped me come to terms with it and live day by day.

I know this one!!!
Once in the Highlands, the highlands of Scotland...
Deep in the night on a murky brae
There in the highlands, the highlands of Scotland
Two weary hunters lost their way...
From Brigadoon!!! I love that show...![]()
