Julie Pennington-Russell is now the new Pastor at FBC in Washington, DC. Back in April she left the pastoral position at First Baptist in Decatur, GA. Safe to say she has a good amount of pastoral experience to bring to the table, as she began that role back in 1998 in Texas.

Your question kinda confuses me cause it's pretty normal for ministers to move to new congregations eventually, & not cause of any negative reasons. She got a promotion. Why wouldn't she move on up? Same thing happened w my mom. She'd been the minister a small church & was so loved she was asked to lead a much bigger church! We go back & visit w the old church all the time. She gets asked to come back for weddings & funerals all the time cause she still loves everybody & they still love her.

Jesus is our shepherd.

The pastor is the hired hand...read John 10 carefully. I sure would like to know if we made the pastoral position of every church a non-paid position how many "pastors" would still feel "called" to preach the Word of God. Most pastors I know with a doctorate make very close if not more than six figures. Very lucrative profession! Don't get me started on televangelists.

Im not sure why she left, but I'll do some digging and get back to you on that.
