Is it ok to like to buy good looking shoes and clothes that suit u and make u feel good about yourself.. and what about playing videogames like wrestling games.. if you dont feel they make u violent.. but the desire to win itself is it sinful? if it doesnt take too much of your time like 5 hrs a week? I feel like everything my brother does I condemn but it makes life look really hard to those who are not ready to give Everything up and makes christianity look miserable since im depressed already.

The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are you saying that you think you must give up the fun things in your life, the things you do for yourself to be a good Christian?

I think I must and should get rid of everything sinful from my previous life or old ways of living and I wanna know whats really sinful and whats not. And my depression is not caused by giving up things I like I think btw.. the more u move away from worldly life the more u get from another life the spiritual life which is more enjoying I think.

Your desire is a good one, but I want to encourage you not to rely on your own judgement, but turn to the Lord for guidence. If you are in the word, and talking to the Lord, you can trust Him to show you what needs to change. (As long as you are willing and waiting for the command.

To be honest I never know if im hearing Gods voice or my own anymore... there are sometimes I know and I feel like I cant get back into the word.. I just read passages ive read before again and again and my mind wont actually meditate anymore just reading.

knowing whether it's God or yourself is really hard, I know I have made soo many mistakes by thinking it's just me being stupid or whatever, but, when I didn't listen, it cause a lot of pain that wasn't neccessary, I didn't listen in a situation which turned out that it could have been life or death! I know it's hard to know, I'll be praying for ya Mike! Good luck!

i used to wach wrestling tv all sorts of stuff pornography bad books now i pray every 2 hours jesus is helping me see even if you dont get violent wrestling what we feed our minds ,when we became christians we have 2 natures good bad so by wrestling games vilent games tv or music your brain is being feed bad stuff wich feeds bad nature see to be good christian we must feed good nature read bible or internet readin ng good christian stuff internet books pray allot i gave up tv for christian tv,gave up bad games ,porn andwrestling i love i gave u .now read bible or internet wich has plenty christian sites im growing well becarefull what goes in your mind.it will effect you gods blessings

I suffer from depression, too and know how hard it is to meditate and retain the things that I read in the Bible. But try to stay focused, even if it is the same scriptures. there is probably a message for you there that God is trying to show you.
I like to read the Psalm they are comforting and speak of our hopes and God's promises. Praying for you Mike and when you think of it say a little prayer for me!
