Hey guys, I can use some clarity on this please. Far as I am understanding God said "an eye for an eye" while Jesus said "turn the other cheek". God said to avoid strife or not associate yourself with anyone who brings strife into your life while Jesus said to always love and forgive. What gives??

Jesus and God are the same. Sometimes Jesus brings justice, like how he works through police officers to protect people. But Jesus also has us forgive those who hurt us.

So I have to ask...Where did they hear it said? Not from God

Ah! Thank you....So its talking about fair justice. If you cause someone hurt your 'penalty' is equal to the hurt.
Seems that justice is served and a heathy caution instilled.

There is no conflict, it's the same God. Same word, it does not change with time. There are different levels of punishment, some should be forgiven. Would you "turn the cheek" against murders??? Would you consider "eye for an eye" for someone being late to work??? Read the entire verse in context.

I don't remember Jesus saying to ALWAYS forgive. As for the turning the other cheek, the Book of Ecclesiastes tells us there is a time for war and a time for peace.

Be realistic about forgiveness. If someone comes to my door every day and kicks me in the shin, I will forgive him, but only after he stops coming to my door and kicking me in the shin.

Jesus asked his father to forgive those who crucified him because they didn't know what they were doing. Stephen in The Book of Acts forgave in this same way (which is to love as God loves us) -
..you who have received the Law ordained by angels, yet have not kept it. On hearing this, the members of the Sanhedrin were enraged, and they gnashed their teeth at him. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked intently into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
As these dragged him out of the city and began stoning him, "Falling on his knees, he cried out in a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.”

No, I don't. For HE has caused me to know all things work together for good...that everything is exactly as it is supposed to be for all things come from HIM...HE fills all in all...His glory fills the whole earth (whether one can 'see' it or not...)
Those who nailed Jesus to the cross (and whom HE asked his father to forgive) were fulfilling God's will just the same...
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
A seed must first fall to the earth and die, or it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

I did find The Way...by the grace of God...as promised.

Suffering has a purpose and is not out of order...as part of the process taking place within...
Peter says of it, "so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ."
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away."
