Hello all. I am Nossa-the-Lame! As per my title, I am realy conflicted right now, you see I am trying to find a new path to live by, and I have come across 2 religions that really have my attention: Messianic Judaism and Catholicism. I went to a MJ service and was deeply moved, and I haven't gone to mass yet, or talked to a Priest for that matter, but my moms side of the family are entirely Catholic. I feel like I could live by either, but I know I can't do both. Can anyone help me out? Advice or even just telling me about either or is ok. I am so conflicted it hurts :(

THanks and God Bless!

PS: I don't want any mudslinging, no anti-catholic posts and no anti-semetic remarks please, theres enough of both on the other forums.

What are your thoughts on Jesus?

Well, other than the obvious personal savior, and being the son of god and apart of the trinity, and redemer of all...

I believe he came to fulfill the prophecy, and to bring us out from bondage of the law, but many people have different ideas as to what it was meant to fulfill the law, the messianis say the law is still here, but then the apostles said it wasn't and started the church...I hope this answers your question.

My opinion is that while the law is still there it has no power to save. And Jesus Himself healed and did other good works on the Sabath. The law might have a place for those of Jewish descent, I don't know. I guess God must have a purpose for the Law still being followed by Jews, but I don't understand that. Nor does it truly matter. You have to discover God's will for you. I know what I have been given in grace as my faith. But what God has in store for you may be quite different. The only advice I can really give is that all that matters is serving God, everything else is meaningless. Then the question you must answer every day of your life is how do I serve God today.

Pray about it and try to discern where you think God wants you to be right now. If you find that one of those churches really seems to "click" for you and you find that it is helping you in your Christian walk, then maybe that's the one for you. Or maybe there's some other church that would be the best fit for you. To find out about both, I'd suggest attending a few services of each, talking to a church leader from each, and visiting the forum for each in the congregation section here :)

Actually, the apostles didn't say the law is done away with. Fulfill means to make complete and whole. If a person loves, they will not break the spiritual law of God. The ordinances were teachers, but the spiritual law will never pass away.
God bless...

Ro 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. 9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Romans 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual; but I am of the flesh, sold into slavery under sin.

Lu 16:17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

Ro 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Matt 5:17-18 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle of the law shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

I think both have their good points, but I believe, even though I am not one or even the otehr, that MJ's have a better out look on the bible and God and I think Catholics do more of going through the motions...that's just my impression
