• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

What's really going on in the world and life is the war between God's kingdom and Satan's kingdom. ABC News wants to paint you another picture of what's going on. So there is a conflict between perception and reality. This conflict is enough to drive some people crazy, such as myself. My OCD intensifies my insanity, but the root cause is the conflict between perception and reality, which is universal.

ABC News truly is not your enemy, and Satan only operates within the will of the Father. Your conflict can be easily remedied by obstaning from all news which has become a trigger. Focus on your Lord and Savior who has already conquered Satan's kingdom.
Be blessed

Oh I've taken major breaks away from News watching and I highly recommend it. I am taking one right now. I cannot avoid it entirely as sometimes when I visit my mum, she has the News on. I do have a tendency at times to take the burdens of the world on myself. News is always a small frame of what is going on. Depending on the News service it can be laced to varying degrees with elements of factual reporting, opinion, opinion as fact, misinformation, disinformation even mal-information.

I cannot comment on ABC News as I never watch it.

Additionally there is a thing called 'pathologies of velocity' with TV News coverage, meaning you are not given time to reflect, that you don't get if you read the News as you can stop and reflect while reading. Also with the Internet you can do your own research.

Now my taking breaks from watching the News (for maybe a week or longer) doesn't mean I don't give a toss about the world. But eventually if you keep watching it you might either throw your hands up in the air in exasperation or despair, or feel quite guilty (which might be MSM induced false guilt)

So take an interest in what is local - your family, community etc.

I do pray about what is going on in the world, but the News coverage I was following recently was making it harder for me to pray in faith.

So I am deliberately taking a week long break from watching most of it. I did this before, and there was some anxiety to begin with, that I might be out of the loop, out of touch. But I'm not. I seen enough to know several of the major things that are going on in the world. I just won't let the News reports get me bogged down in the bickering and squabbling of politics. Sure I'll miss something now and again that everyone is talking about, but if its important I can go read up on it.
