How many of you received a verse upon confirmation? I did not; I found a verse on my own later that I took as my confirmation verse:

[BIBLE]But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” (John 3:21)[/BIBLE]

For those of you who did receive or choose one, why was it chosen? What does it mean to you now?

For those who never got one, do you wish you had? Why?

My pastor chose one each for myself and my fellow confirmands, based on what he thought we would need to remember, something we'd struggled with, etc. Mine is Matthew 21:22 - "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." Prior to being confirmed, I didn't pray much outside of church except for the Common Table Prayer and the "Now I lay me down to sleep" bedtime prayer. Now, though I still say those prayers (yes, I still say "Now I lay me" at 21 years old), I also pray for others more often than I had done in the past.

In 4th grade we were given our first bible. At that time the Sunday School teacher wrote a different verse in each one. I think by default that became your confirmation verse. However, when you were toward the end of the confirmation process you could change it to any verse you wanted.

I chose to change mine. I changed it to 1 Timothy 1:15. I was in 8th grade when I was confirmed, and I still think that verse was perfect for me at the time. But now looking back, the verse written in my first bible speaks to me more - Ephesians 2:8.

I was confirmed Lutheran as a young adult and was not given one. My husband, a pastor, suggested I select one as my verse and that verse is my signature.

What does it mean to me? That I want God to show me the way, the He is the truth and my salvation. At the time I selected it, I was dealing with a lot of changes in my life and a lot of issues. Looking at this verse, I feel God was leading me to this verse to show me that God will show me the paths I should be on, and, He has!!
