• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was wondering how I can get my confidence back, when it comes to meeting people and when I meet those people, how can I get closer to them as friends, without being clingy or like some kind of leech? Not to say I am one, but I was once, when I was a naive 13-14 yr. old hanging out with friendship killer Yolanda...:p :| :D How about when I am around peopel that are like 10-20 yrs. older than me? How can I keep that confidence? I thought change of appearance to make me look more exciting, while staying the same person, would be a start? ;)

you already are yourself & that is fine. we are all individual thaugh trying to be more different might not work in our favour. you should chose people who like & enjoy you. finding a group that you belong too naturaly is important. you need to make the right judgements for yourself as it is crucial I found.dont try to be something you are not or you are not happy with.Ther are more people in the world than the person you are trying to impress but probely cant if it has gone to this stage. just be yourself & be happy with that & find someone you can trust without having to change to someone you are not. good luck

Hi, How are ya doing with your confidence? One thing i've
learned is, if we have to change something about ourselves, to
get someone to be our friend, or to like us, then the other person isn't seeing the real you. They're seeing someone that
you are not, but someone you want them to see. I've kinda learned the hard way, it does'nt work. You have to keep being someone else, and not yourself. God made you the way you are,
if you think you might need some improvement, that's fine,
we can all stand to improve a little. When people like you for who you are, you can be assured that it's you they like, and not someone you created. If you have to, find out who YOU are,
and then, just be yourself. You'll feel a lot better, and be glad that you, are you. God Bless You, and may you find what you're
looking for. Amin.(short for the musical note, A-minor.)

Ah you all are right. And my Momma agrees that if that person doesn't see you for the real you, then there's something wrong with that person. I remember that a girl named Tasia had a crush on this boy that I liked as well. She told me she hated him in so many words that I could have him. and she added "He's stupid if he doesn't see how nice I am..." :( She's right. I hope I neverrrr see that boy again....NEVER...in fact, I created a character based on him called Nicholas Heston in the series Immaculate Angel Kenya who causes trouble. But you guys are right on the money! Thanks.

I'm glad to hear you believe in yourself a little more.
Changing to please others is something you would be doing the rest of your life. I would'nt be afraid to bet, your just fine the way you are. Let other people get to know the real you, and you'll know it's you they like. Wishing you all the best, Amin. Take Care, and God Bless You.

Hey Wager,

My pastor use to tell me to put my confidence in Jesus and to let him be my confidence. Wager, let Jesus be your confidence. Let your desires flow towards him; and seek his face, so that you may be like him. Jesus understands because He is God. Always remember Jesus. Trust in him. He can help you in your darkest situations.

Peace in the name of Jesus! Glory be to him.

Have a good day.

Your brother in Christ,
Verity.
