i fear you are seriously mislead

There is no fear in love and God, is love.

1 John 4:18, There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Experience His perfect love and fear not.

His one sacrifice was enough I don't have to keep putting him on the cross!!!!

The lamb has already died, He doesn't offer sacrifice twice.

Hebrews 10:10, And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.:amen:

There is the forgiveness we receive from Jesus dying on the cross. That's called positional forgiveness. Reading your posts, that seems to be what you're speaking of.
The other type, which is what others are referring to, is called relational forgiveness.

Did God ever turn his back on Adam in the Garden? Did Adam turn his back on God?

Dear shahim white. Jesus died that we might live, and in Matthew 22: 35-40: Jesus tells us: The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. The second is like it: love thy neighbour as thyself. In verse 40 we are told; on these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets. God is Love and God wants loving sons and daughters. We have to give up all selfish and unloving thoughts and deeds, and start loving and caring for all we meet, and all we know. Love is very catching, once we start loving and caring, we change and be the men and women which God wants.
The Bible tells us: Start loving and caring, start be the sons and daughters which our Heavenly Father wants. In Matthew 7: 7-10: we are told: Ask and you shall receive. We ask for Love and compassion, for joy and peace, then we thank God and start sharing all love and compassion, all joy and peace wit our neighbour: all e know and all we meet. God sees our Love and care, our joy and peace, and God will Bless us abundantly. Jesus died that we might live, we ask God for all Love and Care, and be the sons and daughters which God wants. We keep asking for help with our sins, then we confess them and start living as God wants us to live; in Love and Harmony. Thank God and be the children which God wants us to be. I say this with love, shahim. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

It is because of the grace and mercy of God which is in Christ, for us, and through the faith given to us that we can approach the throne of grace and confess our sins freely to God in the confidence that we are forgiven of all our sins on Christ's account.

Go boldly, not sniveling into the throne room.

Hebrews 4:16, Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Be Savior conscience, not sin conscience.

The devil is also doing his best to turn us from God and to destroy our faith and relationship with God.

That's why he is called the accuser. The devil doesn't give a rip if you ever sin again, his job is to make you feel distant from God, make you believe that God is disappointed and angry with you over your "sin" and it will affect your relationship with Him and the devil likes that very, very much.

Dear sharem white. Jesus died that we might live. God is Love, and God wants loving sons and daughters. I have answered your question once, but cannot find it now. My Grandson always helps me with the answers, but today he was not here. I cannot find my answer to you, and think that you have taken it already. If you have, let me know please. I would really like to know if I made a mistake. Every time we sin we ask God to forgive us, and God will always forgive us: Jesus died that we might live. I say this with love sharem. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

Read the thread, a good read overall.
.
My general concern is that the denial of the nature of Sin and how it affects the creation is entirely ignored. We are new creations but our bodies are still of the old order and subject to decay. If the bodies were set free from sin, then we wouldn't die, it's that simple.
.
Furthermore, regarding the royal priesthood: There's another purpose to confession that is far more redemptive, in which it isn't mixed with guilt and sorrow, but with the knowledge that something hidden is being exposed and removed by the light of God. The creation has been waiting for us groaning because of the effects of sin ... just saying.

Another purpose I find of confessing sin is, that since the body still produces a sin by product as outlined in Romans 7, confessing sin is like cleaning house so there is a clear line of communication between myself and God who indwells.

Experience His perfect love and fear not.
When you have a relationship with your Father, and you adore your Father, and you treat your Father with the perfect love spoken of in these passages, you repent out of love. Do we ever tell our parents, "I'm sorry I hurt you" ? How much more are we to express to our Father? As we also ask Him to help deliver us from those sins/shortcomings that we battle with?
Sin grieves God our Father. As His true children, we care if we grieve Him with sin. The truth is, there are passages throughout the Word that prove we are capable of grieving Him. So, when we repent, that doesn't mean that we are asking for forgiveness in some hurry to escape a consequence. We're His child. We have a Father-child relationship with Him. A loving one. We care and don't want to grieve our Father. And we repent as a result. It's the experience of who we are in Him.
I believe God prefers we look at His Word realizing we don't have to be in bondage to sin living in sin rather than looking at the Word as a way to escape a responsibility to repent from sin. This all boils down to how we are regarding His Word. As freedom from sin or freedom from repentance of things we have no business doing anyway?

And I also believe that, as the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom/knowledge (according to the Word), we are to fear Him as the Word says. If we look at fear in a context of being terrorized, of course we are not to fear Him in that way. We love Him. But when we look at fear in the context of awe, reverence, and even to regard God's whole nature that does NOT tolerate sin, we are to take Him far more seriously than anyone who could harm us physically. Because those who can kill the body can't send anyone to hell.

Matthew 10:28

It's just not wise to throw out one part of the Bible in order to regard another part. Interpret Scripture with Scripture and rightly divide the Word of truth so that we don't show a shabby regard for God as if He's Someone to not take seriously with a flowery love. There's a hippie type of love that's feeling-based and gives us the impression we can do whatever we want as wayward children in modern day Christianity. And an underlying, sometimes spoken/sometimes unspoken statement of that behavior among us is "well, as a believer, I don't have to..."

Romans 6

Jesus sent out the Apostles to forgive any sins

John 20:23
23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.

We need to ask for absolution when we sin. We are very weak and will sin. Nobody in the world is perfect. Nobody is sin free. To say you are sin free is a trick from the devil.

Jesus came to save sinners. We have to pick up our cross and follow Jesus. This means turning to Him and asking for forgiveness when we fall. He gave us a way to Heaven. We need to realise we are all weak.

Anyone who says they do not sin is kidding themselves.

Ok, So you confess your sins to receive something that you already have? so If I give you a dollar you put in in your pocket. the next day can you come to me with that dollar still in your pocket. Will you ask for the same dollar I gave you yesterday? or will you simply thank me for giving you the dollar!!!?
Does this apply also to asking God to bless us? We know He will bless us as His children. But do we stop asking Him to bless us?

John McArthur states (and I paraphrase it) that the mark of Christian growth is you sin less and less and grieve more and more when you do.

I do things all the time that are sinful and fall short of the perfection of God. Something as simple as fear, or thinking of self or reputation in the face of conflict can be sinful. Lashing out in anger or frustration?

I am not going to face judgment, but I will face Jesus. And I will weep in joy and gratitude of all the sins He saved me from
Paul Washer, a fellow laborer in Christ of John MacArthur's, says things similar to this. He's stated several times that the evidence that a Christian really repented at the point of salvation is that he continues to repent. And he's talked about the journey of the walk similar to how John MacArthur describes it.

So by you saying you have to "do" something in order to get something goes against the definition of Grace.
Not at all. Quick example. Your girlfriend gives you a nice watch for your birthday. She puts it in a nice box and wraps it with nice wrapping paper.

You have to unwrap the watch and put the watch on your arm to make use of the watch, but that does not change the fact that the watch is a gift. You did not "earn" the gift merely because you did a small amount of work in unwrapping the box.

What I provided would also be the Orthodox view, and based on your own quote from Trent not altogether different from the view of your own church.

Thanks. It would be interesting to see if they have any official explanations of the Mass from thier standpoint. I would think that it is still an open question for them since they haven't had an ecumenical council in a bit.

I suppose the main point where we differ is that we view the Mass as a propitiatory sacrifice offered for the forgiveness of sin (the one-time sacrifice of our Lord is sacramentally re-presented to the Father for the sins that we commit daily). I have doubts that most US Catholics know this given the state of the Church here.

His Blood is a free gift!!! there is nothing that we can do to get that! He gives it to us by our faith in him.
It is a free gift, but you still have to walk up to the altar and hold the chalice to your lips, at the very least.

I think you should only stop asking when you feel you have received what you asked for. Continue to ask if you feel you are not blessed.

You don't have to!! You thank Him for being such an awesome and loving God and You thank Him because you are Blessed you thank him because you are Loved... Do you go to God and ask Him to love you? No!!! Because you already know He does, you thank Him for his love! Is there anything wrong with you asking Him? No, But I just wanted people to see it from a deeper perspective "that's all".. The bible says we are complete in Christ. The scripture says if you "LACK" wisdom ask God... meaning if there is something you don't don't ask God, if there is something that you believe you lack, ask God... Thank you for your input, i really appreciate it saint.. God Bless you
