I think this may accidentally be going too far in the other wrong direction by suggesting forgiveness is not already. Christ's death is the forgiveness of all sin, not just some; all past and future sin is forgiven and crucified in His body and defeated by the power of His resurrection as He has overcome sin, death, hell, and the devil.

Consider the Holy Eucharist in which there is anamnesis--remembrance. The Eucharist is not a re-doing of Christ's once and for all sacrifice, the Eucharist is the bringing into the present of the once-and-for all sacrifice of Christ.

It is not past or present; it is past and present. The timelessness of Christ's glorious atonement extends in all directions through time and covers all.

Did Jesus Die yet? was his blood shed when He said that? i'll wait?

Do you believe that the commands and words of the Incarnate Deity were only relevant in the few years prior to His death and resurrection?

Ok, So you confess your sins to receive something that you already have? so If I give you a dollar you put in in your pocket. the next day can you come to me with that dollar still in your pocket. Will you ask for the same dollar I gave you yesterday? or will you simply thank me for giving you the dollar!!!?

I think this is a point where Catholics and Lutherans differ. From Trent, session 22:

Jesus Christ, our Lord and God, when he was about to offer himself once on the altar of the Cross to God the Father, making intercession by means of his death, so that he might gain there an eternal redemption, since his priesthood was not to be extinguished by death, at the last Supper, ‘on the night that he was handed over’, left to his beloved Spouse the Church a visible sacrifice, such as the nature of man requires, by which the bloody sacrifice achieved once upon the Cross might be re-presented and its memory endure until the end of the age, and its saving power be applied to the remission of those sins which are daily committed by us.

the non believing don't confess their sins to God?

Of course they don't. Without faith this is impossible, and as soon as the person has faith they are no longer an unbeliever, but a believer.

So you were always a believer?

I was raised in the faith, so there was never a time I didn't believe. My parents had been teaching me about the Lord since I was in diapers, before I could walk, talk, or crawl.

I wasn't! I was a sinner!!

You're still a sinner, because we're all sinners.

and I was ministered to by some faithful believers and God used them men to touch my Heart and as a non believer I confessed my sins and was converted!

Consider your own words, you heard the word of the Gospel and what did it do? It created faith in you, and it was in faith that you confessed your sins to God.

I am a new creation in Christ and I am no longer a sinner!!!!!

You are both, simul iustus et peccator.

I ask for forgiveness for my daily sins because in my mind, i cannot let those sins go unanswered, or un-prayed for. today i got into a shouting match with my boss over the phone, its not the kind of person i usually am --- and i will not go to bed until i address that to God, i feel, if i sin here, sin there, and never address them to God i am not doing my part as a God fearing person by not asking for forgiveness for these recent transgressions. Jesus dying on the cross was the sacrifice for the sins of all men, but it does not give us a get out of jail free card to say and do whatever we wan be cause we are "already" saved. thats my train of thought

God's mercy is not a dollar bill. And the Prophet has spoken, "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22-23)

What I provided would also be the Orthodox view, and based on your own quote from Trent not altogether different from the view of your own church.

Are these rhetorical questions by any chance?
absolutely!! I believe a brother already said this but i'll say it again.. Jesus wasn't speaking of "Positional forgiveness" in that scripture He was speaking of "Relational Forgiveness" His Blood is a free gift!!! there is nothing that we can do to get that! He gives it to us by our faith in him. So by you saying you have to "do" something in order to get something goes against the definition of Grace. Jesus wants us to forgive each other because if we don't it will effect our communion with God not our Salvation.

If you feel like you need to be saved everyday "fine" but I don't I was saved when I accepted Jesus as my Lord. and when I confess at night it sounds like this "Lord I fell short today and I ask that you continue to work in me through the power of your Holy Spirit I thank you for the sacrifice and blood of Christ which was shed for my sins".... I don't have to ask for forgiveness "I thank him because I am already forgiven...God Bless...

We are saved by the sacrifice of Jesus, and the sins of man have been forgiven then and now, but we are still sinners, then and now; and we will always be. So we must always honor his sacrifice by owning up to our mistakes on a day to day basis, thanking Jesus for his sacrifice while asking forgiveness for the sins we commit as they are committed. think of it as an upkeep. God will see that we are keeping our faith in him and honoring his laws by we acknowledge when we break them and seek repentance

I don't "need to be saved everyday". This is the key difference, you are thinking of salvation as a singular event that happened in your life; most Christians never have thought of salvation this way, but instead that salvation refers to the entirety of God's work to rescue the world, redeem us, and deliver us to that future life. I can say I was saved two thousand years ago, I can say I was saved when God gave me faith, I can look to my baptism, I can look to the Lord's Supper, I can look to the mercy of God every day and the hope I have in Jesus at all times to trust that I am saved, I am being saved, and will be saved.

I am not being saved again and again; instead it is the same salvation in which I am dwelling because Christ keeps me and holds me in Himself by God's mercy, by the Holy Spirit alive in me, through the faith given to me in which I trust Him. It's not about me, it's about Jesus. Jesus saves me, and what I am is a helpless and hapless sinner who has nothing to bring before God except filthy and unwashed rags--it is in Christ alone that I am made new, made alive, and have the white robes of His righteousness covering me. It is Christ's righeousness, not my own; it is Christ's life, not my own; it is Christ alone.

Yes.
We still live in an imperfect world, and, though forgiven, our human nature has not yet disappeared, or been made perfect. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says that we are being transformed into Jesus' likeness. If we we perfect, or became perfect on salvation, this would not be necessary. Also, Paul talked about persevering, running the race, Hebrews 12:1-2 and "pressing on to take hold of that for which Christ took hold of me", Philippians 3:12.
The devil is also doing his best to turn us from God and to destroy our faith and relationship with God. Sometimes he succeeds; we are still human, sometimes weak and have free will.

So we have new natures, which lead us to desire the things of Christ, not the things of the world - but we are not yet perfect.

So you've been saved. Now you can do anything you want with no remorse, guilt, or conviction? Also, you never sin now? Ever? Do you even have need for the Holy Spirit at this point?

Everything not of faith is sin. As a believer, do you have faith? Do you have the faith of Jesus or in Jesus?

Romans 14:23, But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

The Holy Spirit only speaks of Truth, Jesus. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, unbelief, you are not of the world, so what does the Holy Spirit convict you of? Righteousness.

John 16:13, But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

John 16:8-11, When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

As a believer, are you of the world or in the world?
