  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

....The question is mainly for Married Couples ....

"What do you think about using Condoms as married couples ?" cos I have wondered if it is right for married couples to use condoms when engaging in sexual intercourse....and for what sole purpose actually ?cos I will not think it is for the reason of preventing AIDS/STDs since they both must have tested each other and are sure of each other before getting married ...Thanx

Um, I don't find a thing wrong with it. lol I have already had two children, and it is dangerous for me to have more. So, I'm all for having sex for the fun of it. ;) As far as birth control goes, I always just figure that if God want's someone pregnant, they are gonna be getting pregnant. heeheehee.... :) Hey, if a baren womb and virginity didn't stand in the way, I'm sure a wittle condom won't either. lol

I think its allright to use condoms if you want to. There is nothing wrong with it. But i feel like Jenna does if God wants you to have a child you will. It up to Him not us. I dont use anything and i dont want a 3rd child but if God wants me to have one i will get pregnant and have one so what is the use in protecting myself. We got pregnant with Desiree using a condom so there.

Sex in marriage is for more than babies. It can be for fun, stress relief, comfort, as well as procreation. If you are having sex for procreation, don't use a condom. Otherwise, do whatever you want.

I personally think that artifical birth control is wrong and messes with what God intended sex to be (unitive AND procreative) and believe that it is not biblical. Many here will disagree with that. There are ways to prevent pregnancy without using artifical birth control (NFP) and that is my chosen method.

Reasons to use a condom:
birth control, cleanliness, STD protection, sometimes it makes the going easier.

Reasons not to:
easier to have children (and I believe you shouldn't be married if you aren't ready to do so), feeling of closeness, reaction to the material.

(We used them before we decided to let God be in control of that area, too. I hated being on the pill. But I think it does cut down on the intimacy/one flesh part of relations.)

You can't just go recklessly having sex and just assume that you won't get pregnant unless God wants you to (and vice versa assume that you are going to get pregnant if God wants you to no matter what). If you aren't ready for children, can't afford children, can't raise children, then you have to be responsible and take preventitive measures. If that means condoms, so be it. If that's a pill, patch, diaphragm, whatever, then so be it. You have to do your part. :) God's not up there touching wombs at His discretion. ;)

Before you decide what God does or doesn't do, maybe you should read up on the matter.

Gen:20:18: For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife.

Gen:29:31: And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.

Gen:30:22: And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.

Gen:49:25: Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:

Deut:7:13: And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

1Sam:1:5: But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.

Job:31:15: Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?

Ps:22:10: I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.

Ps:127:3: Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Isa:44:2: Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.

Isa:49:5: And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.

Hosea:9:14: Give them, O LORD: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.

Gal:1:15: But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,

And many more...

Why do I go to work? If God wants me to have money then he will take care of it, right? IF God wants me to get to work safely then he will - I'll just walk down the middle of the tollway - if he wants me to be safe - he'll get me there, right? (I know - I'm being a smarty pants but I think you understand my point)

Does God have the POWER? Yes - without a doubt. But I don't feel one can just sit back hope for the best. ***The power of God does not relieve one of their responsibilities.***

I know that if my wife stopped taking the pill then we would have a large litter of kids. That is not something I want or can afford. When we decided to have our first child it took a matter of 2 wks after she stopped taking the pill to get pregnant.

Doesn't it also say somewhere that if it's not done in faith it's sin? Now go sell everything you have a follow God. See, you wouldn't do the latter, unless God told you to do that, because you don't have the faith to believe that is addressed to you. I too can post the Scriptures to support this.

God has nothing to do with babies, it is sexual intercourse that creates life. If you don't want a baby, contaceptives will prevent you having one, it is irresponsible to bring unplanned babies into this world!
I don't agree with the first part of your statement (I think God has a plan when he allows a woman to get pregnant), but I do agree that there's nothing wrong with trying to be wise in your family planning. You don't know that God won't send something your way that you haven't planned for (not just with pregnancy - it could be a financial burden, illness, etc.), but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't try to plan wisely!

I agree with you that if you want something to happen, you have to try to make it happen. But many times God takes control out of our hands, and it seemed Drfeelgood said He doesn't.

I think people ought to want more kids, but if they don't, using a condom is a viable option.

I would say that using birth control inside of marriage has no problems attached to it, unless that birth control will act as an abortificant if it fails to prevent pregnancy. The list of those that do this includes but it not limited to: the pill, the shot, the patch, and the IUD. Block methods would be acceptable as they can only prevent and not reverse the process.

IMO, when it comes down to it, it is between you, your spouse, and God. I know that my husband and I use no form of birth control, because God laid it, very heavily, on our hearts when we were getting married that we were to trust His discretion for having children. Now, do I believe that it is a sin to use birth control? No, I can't say that. All I can say is that for me, if my husband and I used any form of birth control, it would be a sin simply because God told us not to. My only advice is to pray about it and have God tell you what to do! Works like a charm! =)
