Ok so I missedc this concert this summer. It even had jim Loomis as a special guest! How could I miss that? All because I didnt have a car or anyone to take me. Any advice on how to aviod this issue. Has anyone else besides me missed a concert they wished the went to. I also had a chance to go to 2012's summer slaughter tour, guess what? missed it. It had cannibal corpse, BTBAM, job for a cowboy, veil of maya etc. I feel like a failer!

I've had this happen to me. I had a chance to see Keane back in June when I lived in Milwaukee. I was busy with a lot of work and moving-related issues, not to mention that money was a bit tight. I still wish I had gone and made the effort, although I was able to use that money to invest in gifts for my wife's birthday. I felt like that was a more important issue.:)

I've also missed seeing They Might Be Giants twice. Last time I had tickets and couldn't get any friends to go with me. I didn't want to go alone and so I stayed home. In hindsight I wish I had just gone alone, especially since they played the Flood album in its entirety.

However, the one I regret the most is R.E.M. in Nashville back in 2008. They were playing the Ryman Auditorium, which is a great venue for intimate and energetic shows. I was still collecting their back catalogue and getting into them on a deeper level, so at the time I didn't feel too pressed to go see them. I never got another chance and they disbanded last year, stating that there would be no farewell tour and they won't be getting back together. They're now one of my all-time favorite artists and it pains me that I won't get the chance to see them live. I should have gone when I had the chance but I put it off and now it's too late. It's a sobering reminder that you never know when (or if) you'll get to see an artist, so don't pass it up if you have the time and cash to do it!

Thats so true, even more so with underground bands. Wow dude, its like we need the back to the future car or something to go to these concerts lol

Two shows I missed but could have seen were Miles Davis, shortly before he died, and Johnny Cash, just when he was making his 90s resurgance. I regret missing both of these as neither of them returned to my area again. Well, I did see Johnny Cash at a Billy Graham revival, but that was at an NFL football stadium and dosen't really count, I think. I also had tickets for Neil Young, but he cancelled and has not come back to my area. Come to think of it, I could have seen the "Rust Never Sleeps" tour, but passed - another regret. Oh and Talking Heads - I was DJing at my college radio station and the manager offered me tickets to the tour that was filmed for "Stop Making Sense", but the venue was three hours away and I had an 8:00am class the next morning. Couldn't do it. Regret, regret, regret!

Oh man, Talking Heads would have been amazing to see! I can understand why you didn't go, though. Back in college I wouldn't have had the time or energy to do that either.

I wonder if it is sometimes worth missing one class over a concert that a band is playing out, knowing that eventually they will break up, maybe sooner than others.

It sucks living on the West Coast. No one comes here, and when they do, the crowds just stand there. I went to a 116(Christian rap group) concert and the entire crowd stood there. Me and my friends were the only ones jumping around and having a good time. >_<
