If you're on a tight budget, take a look at dell refurbished systems. They're much cheaper, and still reliable. Generally you can find them cheaper then I could build them.

I used to build PC's and sell them but companies like Dell were nothing to compete with so I gave it up and when I needed to replace a system of mine this past summer I folded and bought a Dell Dimmension 2350 and sooped it up to what I wanted it to be......Sadly, 2 months later I had to have the processor fan replaced because it was defective and now I have to have the CD-RW drive replaced because it's not working all the time.......Dell can be reliable, but Dude I think I Got a Dud!!!Suchness said:If you're on a tight budget, take a look at dell refurbished systems. I was speaking of a 56k modem when I said no modem.....just wanted to clarify......Durelen said:Yes it has 10/100 Ethernet for broadband Internet. If you are stuck on dial-up then spend the $10 for a modem (not a winmodem) for your Internet needs.
For a while I was building faith in your statements, until this statement here and your comments on the Gimp.doofus125 said:The one advertized is a good starter for someone who wants to customize it into something more though.....It has potential![]()

That computer mentioned in the OP has no potential. I've worked on them. They are made out of garbage components and everything is integrated onto the mainboard. Upgrade potential is virtually nil.
Like I said in my previous post, Dell makes some good computers, but this isn't one of them.
Not to mention they have absolutely terrible tech support like Durelen said. You'd think for a company that's gone bankrupt three times that they'd have learned their lesson by now.
What are some of the lower priced good computers that Dell makes? I thought the Dimension 4600 looked decent, but most computers sound good until one cracks the case. I tried to find a lower priced computer to recommend, because it seemed from Blake's answers that they'd have around $500 to spend and would have to get a complete system, monitor and all.drfeelgood said:That computer mentioned in the OP has no potential. I have a Dimension 2350....I believe that they are now being sold as the 2400 series, probably because they have been using 2350 for so long that they just needed to change the series number because there was such a large range of systems on the 2350 line already.........I got my 2350 for $499, but I also added some stuff to it before it shipped so it came out to $579 or so.......MsDe said:What are some of the lower priced good computers that Dell makes?
