• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Rules:
1) One entry per person per competition.
2) Photos must be taken in your village/town/city or if you live in an isolated area, within 3 miles of your house.
3) Remember, the title of any competition is open to interpretation! Try to be creative.
4) When the deadline has passed, the winner will be chosen by poll. When voting, please try to take into consideration the skill and creativity of the photo, not merely the fact that the photographer is lucky enough to live in a beautiful part of the world. It goes without saying, but a creative and imaginative shot of an otherwise ordinary location is a lot more rewarding than a "snap" of a World Heritage Site!
5) Deadline: Last day of April.

Post your photos here (longest domension no bigger than 600pixels please. That's fair on everybody - some people don't have access to fancy scanners)

I just realized it was taken more then 3 miles from my home. I think I will skip this challenge. Sorry, seems to be to many rules to go by and then only once a month. It will drag on for me.

Good luck folks and have fun. :)

I did a four day horseride and two day canoe trip in whitehorse, oooh, 10 years ago(?) and it was gorgeous. I'm not convinced I would want to live there, but I'd return for a visit in a heartbeat! I hope you share some more pictures with us when everything thaws...

In this old thread, I have a few autumn pictures. In the first and last posts. I didn't have this new digital camera until late summer, so I look forward to some taking some spring pictures. :)

(Maybe I'll start a whole new thread, and post up a lot of my nature and other photos. I even have some from Fox Lake with grosbeaks, whiskey jacks, and chickadees.)

But I wish not to hijack this thread (a bit late for that, I guess). :sorry:

Here's my submission. Was a tough decision. I had 6 pictures in total I had to decide between. Ultimately I asked my fiance and she said this was hands down her favorite. I had a few others that I tried to be more artistic with...they just didn't turn out as planned. I guess I need more practice.

So basically there's a lot of wooded area and mountains around my town that I've been hiking on recently. I really enjoy being this close to this kind of scenery, so that's why I picked a picture like this for "The Place Where I Live" or whatever the contest theme is. Here's the picture:
