From what i read in the forums and what i see in society, the real battle line is splitting up Truth into facts and values. By doing this you split Scripture into what people consider facts based on science and what is just valued. And if it is just valued, then people must live inconsistent lives to believe in the risen Savior. Once a Christian decides where the facts come from, begins to determine which parts of Scripture they begin to place into different categories besides truth. They may be valued still, but a Christian who holds to the inerrancy of Scripture is looked down upon as self-righteous for not towing the scientific line.
Those who wish to say, "science has determined how life has begun, how old the universe is, where man came from, and it doesn't line up with Scripture" are not supporting science. They are supporting empirical science. Empirical science must reject miracles at all cost. Everything must be explained. I believe in science teaches us about our world. I reject empirical science which is really dictated by atheist hatred for religion. They have split science and religion and i reject that. They have rejected science and Scripture go hand in hand. If science can't explain it, doesn't equate to Scripture is false in areas. It just means Science hasn't come of age.
I don't believe all YECs have their heads on right. Many are a couple of screws away from losing them all. Yet despite my OEC stance, I would never discount the possibility God could stage everything to fool the sinful part of man. I don't believe the flood was a world wide flood and covered every moutain top, including Mount Everst. But I also believe God could raise Mount Everest in a split second without leaving a evidence. But i don't believe that is what happened.
Scripture isn't a science book. Scripture DOES proclaim truth. Jesus spoke of a real Moses. Jesus spoke of the real events. Paul spoke of these real events. Hebrews speaks of these real events. Luke speaks of these people as real.
During the days of Peleg the earth divided. it did.
Adam was formed from the dust.
Eve was formed from a rib of Adam.
Adam and Eve eating the fruit in the garden of Eden was a real event.
Scripture says so. Thus God said so.
To me, this is a battleline. Not for hateful speech. Not for anger. Not to fight with guns or fists. This is the persuasion battleline. And the world is invading the church's mind and seducing it with empiricism. Scripture is without errors and it is scary seeing Christians claiming there are.
