  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't really care for today's comics mostly because of the price. Every 4 or 5 months I'll buy comics for a month but I just don't feel I'm getting my money's worth. So I subscribed to marvel's digital comics. It's so awesome reading the older comics without having to pay hundreds of dollars to buy them. I wish DC had online comics available like Marvel. I'm not sure why they don't. The demand is definitely there.

I tend to steer mostly toward non-superhero comics, though I have a small sampling of Superman and Batman, and and even smaller handful of Ultimate Spiderman. My main comic preferences lean more toward comics that are attached to a franchise; G.I. Joe and Star Wars comics are the main ones, with Star Trek, Doctor Who, Buffy and Transformers as backburners to the Joes and SW.

I grew up on G.I. Joe and Transformers toys and comics. Every now and then I browse eBay and dream of owning the ones I once had. They've become so collectible, so expensive, there is no way I'll ever even come to close to owning what I had as a kid. Of course, as an adult, I would like them all in mint condition in the original boxes, etc. The pro graded ones are way out of my price range, but even a a full NM run of 80's Marvel Joes would cost a fortune. lol Oh well, it is what it is.

I collect comics and read them. My favorites are Amazing Spider-Man, Uncanny X-Men, X-Men, Wolverine, and pretty much most of the current All New 52 Batman titles. Although, I suppose, I don't really physically collect them anymore. I've gone completely digital with my comic book reading.

I've read comics for most of my life, ever since I pulled out comics from the trash my grandmother had threw away. I even have a site dedicated to superhero fan art and stories called superherouniverse.com.

I have to say though that lately I've began to lose interest in new comics. The comics are costing way too much. They are way too liberal and they've lost that fun factor they used to have. I've gone back and started trying to collect any silver age comics I still haven't gotten in my collection. I actually have an entire room dedicated to holding my collection.

My favorites are the standards like Superman, Captain America, Hulk, Spider-man. I also loved all the old Earth 2 stories, which DC has now currently ruined.

But anyway the old Justice Society All-Star Squadron books are great.

But Superman comics are probably the favorite of my collection. I have more Superman books than any other comic.

Does anyone here collect and read comic books?

I ahve been collecting for about 8 months now and want to know what other comic collecters and read feel about the characters and stories.

WHat comics have you subscribed to, which are your favorites?

WHat Graphic novels did you think were better than most books?
WHo is your favorite character?

I must say that i am a DC guy and still appreciate how great Marvel truely is.

But hey who cn beat the Teen Titans? or Batman: The Dark Night Returns?

DOes anyone have aclue what i am asking.

My little sister Christina (She is not a member here on CF) collects comic books, and there is a local comic shop she goes to called Odyssey Comics. Yes I do know what Marvel is and yes I do know what you are talking about.

And yes, she does read them.

Yes, we collect comic books. And read them. I have mainly Sonic the Hedgehog and Archie right now. I wanted some Pokemon (its what I grew up with) but the comic shop I went to told me they didn't have any.

My little sister is more into them than me right now, I guess we can call her a geek.

My mom gave me a whole bunch of her old comics from the 70s. They're awesome :D she has a lot of Archie and Tales from the Crypt and stuff like that hahaha. They're fun to read.

I actually do buy comics too. I kind of hate myself for it because they're so expensive but they're fun!
Although I am having trouble finding a series to stick with.
(I'm more of a Marvel fan)
-I started out reading Avengers Assemble but I didn't like the roster change after #11.
-Then I moved onto the Marvel Now! Iron Man, which got really stupid so I stopped with that.
-I got some Captain Marvel but I hate the new art style, enough for me to quit reading.
-Marvel Now! Guardians of the Galaxy seems decent but I can't find #2. Plus I think it just ended....
-So now I'm on Superior Spider-Man, which I strangely enjoy. I mean, obviously Peter Parker's going to come back eventually.

I also have Extremis (Iron Man), which was pretty good. Iron Man's awesome but I just can't read that new arc

I found a store this weekend that had a sale on their comics. They had about 4 tables with about 6 boxes each that were full of different Marvel, DC and independent comics. My son has gotten into The Flash, so I ended up getting him some Flash comics that ranged from the 70s to now and they also hadd issues 2-4 of the New 52 Justice League.

The comics were on sale for $1 and were buy 2 get 1 free. With Cover prices up to around $5, I thought it was a pretty good deal.

I don't like marvel or DC comics that much, what I have been collecting is Pokemon and Yugioh, but both of them are anime comic books, and I think they are both published by Shonen Jump but I could be wrong. I've already read a bunch of Pokemon anime that I found at my local library, and now I'm waiting for my Yugioh anime to come in the mail so I can read that too.

My mother, however, does have a favorite super hero and his name is Captain America. She likes the movie The Avengers.

I've been collecting since I was 7. I used to mow lawns for money to buy them. I mainly stick to DC, and Marvel, but Darkhorse has some good books, and Image has a few I read as well. The bulk of my collection is Batman related followed closely by Spider-Man, and Thor. I pretty much stick to cape books, but I occasionally venture into other areas. Lazarus, Saga, and East of West have been chief among those.

I think Pokemon and Yugioh are considered Mangas. But Manga still has a place in comics. If you like Manga you should read Full Metal Alchemist. Personally I don't care much for Manga or Anime. There are exceptions, but mostly I skip most Manga.
