  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm waiting for more information to come to light. I read the sentence they claim is in the memo, but we don't know if the memo really exists - or if it does the context. I mean - I hope you can let this go - isn't instructing him too. That would be the crime.

I can never see the FBI dropping any investigation even when someone is fired/removed. Yet, that was the headline within the last week as well. It's almost like the media/politicians seem to forget how the FBI works. I mean they had to ask if they investigation would continue? I mean seriously?! (Shrugs) Yet, I guess it was for fodder.

This could be serious, or it could be more hot air. I don't trust the media - and haven't for years now - because they are more into ratings than they are facts. There is more commentary then news these days.

That honestly doesn't matter. There needs to be more than an accusation, even if it was recorded in February.

That said, I'm bound to be disappointed, as my dream scenario was that Comey was some combination of Hoover/Nixon and recorded EVERYTHING, and when they go digging, they find hard evidence of every corrupt thing either side has done since Comey was in running the FBI. That would be GLORIOUS.

Weird you seem to be more interested in fishing for something which might support your faith that Obama was just as bad rather than addressing the obvious problems happening now in Trump's admin. Doubly strange from someone who claims to not be a Trump supporter.

They were just reporting Trump thinking in his own words on the subject.

I already acknowledged that. I also mentioned the sentence that they are talking about? We don't know if it is true, or what context it was said in.

Remember it was the media claiming he fired him to STOP the 'Russia' investigation last week, and yet they know darn well nothing stops the FBI from doing that. It was almost like they were claiming ignorance over how the FBI investigates until the current head told them what they should have known...nothing stops investigations.

I said I hope he saved evidence for every misdeed both sides has done since he was in office. That is literally as non-partisan as one can get.

Your obsessive finding and quoting my posts to not-so-subtly accuse me of being a Trump supporter is starting to skeev me out a little, dude.

Looks like, "He said, she said".

As Comey himself might say, there's nothing here a decent prosecutor would ever take to court.

Comey vs Trump

Now I wonder who is more credible?

During the reporting I read an interesting quote after Spicer's "I'm hiding in the bushes and you can't see me" moment. I'll mangle it, but something along the lines of "now we see why having a press secretary with any credibility might have been useful to a president." Kinda extends to the rest of his administration, too. The upcoming fight he has on his hands is partially legal, partially public opinion. His [lack of] trustworthiness is going to come back to haunt him, bigly.

Or more likely were accurately reporting that Trump was thinking he could, based on Trump's own words in an interview. The fact that Trump is going to fail at something yet again is no reason not to report him trying. That's especially true in this case, where even an unsuccessful attempt might legitimately be a felony.

Hey, got no issue with speculation on some felony. Yet, just like with Hillary prior to the election? We don't need to yack that to death with nothing new to go on. The story just grows legs and walks by the time they are done, and then we find out it wasn't a HUGE as the speculation wanted us to believe.

I mean that sentence they quoted? It doesn't instruct anyone to do anything. Obama made comments about investigations to, and that doesn't mean he was instructing them either.

Words in an interview, and a conversation with Comey? Trying to melt the two in order for their to be a story? Must be a slow work week. There are tons of things going on it the world, and here in the country as well. Yet, we won't hear about most of it. lol they will be to busy bring on their 'experts' to yack this thing to death!

Our media has become the New Maury Show for years now.

Well, welll.....

"President Trump asked the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, to shut down the federal investigation into Mr. Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael T. Flynn, in an Oval Office meeting in February, according to a memo Mr. Comey wrote shortly after the meeting."

Comey Memo Says Trump Asked Him to End Flynn Investigation
If this can be substantiated, big trouble for dandy don and likely impeachment. One question i would have for comey, is why he sat on this for 3 months?

The key would be when entered into the system. It's be difficult to think of why Comey would fabricate this in Feb.
Also, if the memo is true, then Comey's firing looks more like obstruction of justice. Both together build a case. But it needs investigating.

LOL, Comey seems to have a pattern of sitting on important information for extended periods of time, doesn't he?

Comey's ruined himself either way. If it is true, and was done in such a way that it was an attempt to obstruct justice, it will result in criminal charges and disbarment for him, due to 18 USC 4 and 28 USC 1361 of the U.S. legal Code. If he instead claims it was just a one-off conversation, then any hope of a case falls apart and he's just seen as a weasel.
