Far be it from me to criticize a comedian as well respected and liked as Chappelle....

But when he said he was done speaking about the trans topic at the end of his last special I was relieved. It's not that I think trans jokes are bad....I didn't find the special very funny. It got a few laughs but it was too preachy, too self aggrandizing, too self righteous. I don't know why he began to think that anyone cared about his politics....but his politics aren't funny.

I thoroughly enjoy his humor. Just about every entertainer today is too preachy, too self aggrandizing and too self righteous. Being all that and also being funny is what Chappelle was able to pull of that most of the rest seem incapable of doing.

I don't know Ana I sympathize with Chappelle the trans activists are trying to deplatform him similar to the way, colleges often uninvite Ben Shapiro because of protestors causing trouble. At what point do we not have free speech because of BLM, Antifa etc. shutting down speech they don't like? It also was only a month ago that people worried about the Academy awards joke punching as well (that it might become fashionable to do this at comedy clubs and events).

Also Netflix has some serious make up work to do, to compensate for all lost business and revenue from the Cuties debacle.

I’d go see Chappelle. What would make Shapiro worth seeing?

I don't support deplatforming of any kind. I think people's right to express themselves freely is perhaps the greatest gift we've ever given ourselves...and those who seek to remove it are astonishingly stupid.

Or Twitter.

People feel entitled to act upon their feelings....as if their base emotions should supercede human rights. Ignorant.

Those are market forces. If Netflix delivers products no one wants....they will inevitably lose money. Hard times and inflation and competition have as much to do with their loss of subscribers as Cuties does, I'm sure.

Likewise, the comedian loses money if he fails to be funny. No white people strode up to the stage to attack him when he made jokes about the opioid crisis. I was laughing at those jokes initially....then found it a little odd when it turned into fantasies of shooting them. I wouldn't argue against him saying it though, it's his right. If people find it funny... he succeeded. Jokes about mental illness I've often found distasteful....as my mother was bipolar and died in a psychotic delirium. I even recall Kat Williams doing several jokes mocking atheism. They weren't particularly mean....just ignorant jokes in my mind.

Everyone gets made fun of in comedy at some point. I can understand when people feel hurt, I can understand when they don't find it funny. I can even understand that people can imagine that it somehow impedes their goals of fostering sympathy for a community.

What I can't understand is the utter gall of imagining oneself so utterly righteous and pure as to have the right to dictate the words of others who are willing to express themselves openly.

How about the endless lines of students too ignorant to make a coherent argument striding confidently to the microphone to challenge him with a question?

That's always amusing...and a little troubling. It's not that he doesn't have flaws in his arguments, he does, but apparently the average college student can't spot them.

Yeah I've done some watching of videos on things like people who are in relationships with Narcists after having a friend leave a 20 year marriage where his wife was physically abusive, kind of like the Johnny Depp case only more sympathetic. I really love Dr. Ramani of Med Circle on You-tube who covers this stuff. If you meet a Narcist you tend to never forget it!

I can't say I've ever met a true narcissistic person to the point where it's a disorder.

I do however, have to remind myself daily, that I'm in fact not a golden 50ft all knowing god strolling amongst the pitiful scum of humanity.

When I look at his last special....and compare it to the first few he made after leaving his TV show....it's less funny.

It's just my opinion. I certainly found funny moments in his last special....but those first few are funny the whole hour. I know the jokes and they're still funny.

I am certainly not about to tell you I know better than you do what you think is funny. Although there are many i can think of that might try to .
