"The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the falseness of the treacherous will destroy them. Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. The righteousness of the blameless will smooth his way, but the wicked will fall by his own wickedness."
Proverbs 11:3-5

As I look at these verses this morning, my mind is recalling the images on the evening news from last night. The images of people punching each other and fighting to get ahold of the Black Friday deals in the stores. It came to physical blows between shoppers over the new flat panel tv's. This verse speaks of integrity.

Integrity: adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.

These people certainly didn't show any signs of integrity. If our moral and ethical principles will fly right out the window over a flat screen tv...how much more so will they vanish over bigger and more important issues such as sin and living a godly life? People have become so carnal in nature that they have forgotten about decency. They have been so overcome by sin that they can no longer make intelligent decisions. What a sad day this is.

Today's Reminder:
Always remember that we can't take it with us. This world and everything in it will perish. These so called treasures that we gather up here on earth will pass away. And so will we. We should be keeping ourselves focused on the Kingdom and what awaits us there.

Satan tries any way he can to keep people's focus off what is truly important...their promise of eternal life with our Lord.
The lure of 'flat panel' TV sets gets them in because they are not looking at the big picture - no matter the size of the screen, they are wanting to grab at what they see as a great deal at a bargain price.
Unfortunately, their 'bargain' comes at a great price that is far too high to pay, yet they are blinded to this. They don't see the long term exorbitant interest rate that will send them further and further into the pit of despair. They want the enjoyment now...not in the long term. There is only one spruiker they are taking notice of...and he keeps them trapped in this futile, costly and deadly way of thinking. :(

Hey all... I was flipping through my Bible today... and I ran across Isaiah Chapter 35... it is a really incredible Chapter... and for me today it brought a great sense of worship and praise that I am counted among the Redeemed.

Hope you all have a great evening and an awesome Sunday tommorrow!

Spruiker = A person employed to stand outside a store with a microphone, telling passerbys of the specials awaiting them inside. Usually employed during 'sales' times to draw people in with the hope being they will part with their a lot of their money.

An Aussie/NZ colloquialism. You learn many diverse things here at CF.

When is Gina due back from holiday?

Hey ... interesting what you had to say about the TV... I recently unplugged mine... I found that it was continually eating up all my evening and weekend time... so I turned it off unplugged it... I missed it for a day or 2... but I find myself filling my time still with things other than those things that I really want to establish in my life...

That's the way the adversary wants it. Keep us out of the word and other books which decry him and give us purposeful living.
I sometimes feel as though I need to lock myself away from everything...go to the local Library and just sit in a corner table for an hour or so each day 'cos there is always some job that needs doing which draws me away, then another and another...all little stumbling blocks put there to keep me out of it.
Quite often with the TV, I 'll put it on and not even really be watching it...for hours on end! :sigh:

Saying Thank You

One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice.
Luke 17:15 {NIV}

Considering we just came off of a holiday involving thanks, this seemed appropriate. ~Grin~
Do you remember to say thank you? As children we are taught to say please & thank you. Something you don't hear much of these days. It's bad enough when we forget to thank others but, when we forget to thank God...that's another matter entirely. He answers our prayers...sends friends our way with just the right words at the right moment to help us on our journey...he sends someone with a hug when we need it the most. Whenever God does something for us we should be ready to thank him immediately. There are two stories in the bible on gratitude. One is the story of Joseph in Genesis 40 and the other is a story of 1 grateful leper in Luke 17. My studies this morning suggest keeping a prayer journal to record our requests. Periodically go back through the journal and record the answers to the requests. Designate one day a week as praise day. On this day do nothing but praise God. Reflect on answered prayers and meditate on the lessons learned and on who God is. You can also keep a gratitude journal and write down several things you are thankful for each day. Practice being thankful in all situations. Look for something to thank God for no matter what is going on in your life. Try to look past your circumstances towards God's plans for you and your life. When we come before God with a humble and grateful heart...this honors God and helps us to grow in our faith.

I am so there with you guys on the time wasters. I find stuff to do sometimes to avoid hearing what the Lord wants to tell me...busy and occupied but not in the things I should be. Glad I am not alone in that.
Don't worry...if God has something He wants made known to you...He will make it known, whether we run and hide in a crack in the cliff wall as with Elijah or as we are drifting off to sleep. We cannot hide from Him nor busy ourselves enough that His message won't get through to our conscience. ;)

Matthew 14:22-23

Demonstrating mature faith can seem like risky business. Perhaps God has called you to an assignment that made you say, “What? There’s no way I could do that!” The truth is, however, that the Lord calls His followers to radical obedience every day. And when we hear Him speak, He expects us to act!
Just think about what the disciples in the boat must have thought in Matthew 14:22-33, when Peter stepped out onto the water: He’s crazy! Somebody grab him! Nevertheless, Peter trusted the call of Christ.
Isn’t it interesting that Peter had no trouble walking on the water until he took his eyes off Jesus? As long as his total focus was on Christ, he was fine. Yet, when he allowed himself to be distracted by human fears, he fell neck-deep in trouble—literally!
This demonstrates an important principle: When doubts prevent us from obeying God, we are doomed to failure. But when we step out in faith, God always assumes full responsibility for the consequences of our obedience.
The story of Peter’s walk on the lake teaches us three things. First, we can trust that God will call us into challenging situations which force us to face our fears. Second, we are assured of the enduring presence of Christ, who stands ready to rescue us when we cry out to Him. Third, we know that the Spirit of God will never let us fall beyond His reach. Are you facing a situation that requires full trust in God as you step out in obedience? The real risk lies in your temptation not to obey. Keep your eyes on the Lord, and He’ll see you safely to the other side.
