  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Colossians 1 says There is a hope, an expectation been laid up in Heaven for us. Which we heard in the truth of the Gospel. This expectation is present with us to walk worthy of the Lord. Bearing fruit in every good work. Increasing in the recognition of God. Being endued~ in all power, in accord with the mightiness of His *glory, with all endurance and patience with joy. Giving thanks to the Father. The One who has made and continues to make us competent, partakers of the inheritance of the saints, in *light. Rescuing us out of the power of darkness. Transferring us into the kingdom of His Son of His love. In Whom we have deliverance, the remission, removal of the sins through His blood. And by him all things consist, are held together. Reconciled in the body of His flesh through death to present us holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If we continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope (expectation) of the gospel, which ye have heard. The expectation laid up in heaven for us. The mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope, expectation of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect, Holy, unblameable and unreprovable in and through Christ Jesus. Being rescued from the power of darkness being translated into the Kingdom, the Body of Christ, the Temple of God. Wherein we labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in us mightily.

As we continue in chapter 2 of Colossians we see That our hearts are to be comforted, knitted together in love. In the full assurance of the understanding and the acknowledgement of the Mystery of God. Which is Christ in you the hope. the joyful expectation of glory. In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge of God. Wherein we are not beguiled by enticing words. That we remain established in the faith of Christ Jesus. In that we whom have received Christ, have put on Christ, so walk ye in Him. Us in Him He in us. That the world might believe

Being Rooted and being built up in Him. Established in the faith. Rescued from the power of darkness. Translated into the Kingdom of His dear Son. Made competent, to present us Holy, unblamable and unreprovable in His sight. And excelling in it with thanksgiving. Even as ye were taught. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the God bodily. And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in cutting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with Him in baptism. Reconciled in the Body of His death wherein also ye are risen with Him, quickened together with him; circumcised, the cutting off of the sins of the flesh having risen with Him having forgiven us all trespasses Wherein we labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in us mightily. Being endued with all power in accordance with the mightiness of God's Glory in Christ Jesus through faith.

Is Christ in you working mightily?

Are you experiencing all the fullness of God in Christ Jesus being complete in Him?

If not. why not?

The text states we Have been forgiven all trespasses.

How does this forgiveness mentioned in verse 13 connect to verses 14-16 contextually?

No. The text states that a small remnant has been forgiven, called, and chosen to belong to Jesus.

No the text states the "us" Paul is speaking to have been forgiven "all" trespasses.

So the us or we in the first-person plural is either just Paul and those to whom he is addressing in Colosse. Or the Christian body as a whole.

Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,

Jesus does speak of only a remanent being chosen. But He shares through Paul if He, Jesus died for all, then all are dead.

Now it is up to the "all" to live unto God through Christ or remain dead.

2Cor 5:14 For the love of Christ controls us, since we have concluded this, that Christ died for all; therefore all have died.

John taught through Jesus that Jesus said, He is the vine we are the branches. Without Him we can do nothing.

He also said, Jesus in us, us in Him that the world might believe. Paul through Christ Taught the same when he said it is God that works in us both to will and do His good pleasure. That we are dead, but alive and live by the faith of the Son of God who gave Himself for us. Christ in us the hope of glory., So seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth through Christ ; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience. Put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds. Put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Christians live by the Spirit not by the flesh. Christ in us the hope of glory. Not us but Christ.
There is no I in Christ. For He that has been baptized in Christ has put on Christ.

Colossians' Victory requires the Spirit of God through Christ as it is stated by Christ through Paul in Colossians and John in the Gospel he penned through God through Christ.
Jesus came that we would be one as He was with God. Us in Him He in us that the world might believe.

In this is the fulfillment of the New Covenant, the Law in our hearts and minds through Christ.

We are a new creation in Christ, behold all is new and of God. For he that has been baptized into Christ have put on Christ that the righteousness of the LAW be fulfilled in us who walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh.

So say not who shall bring Christ down from above or up from the deep. But say the word is in our heart and in our mind that we do it. That is the faith in which we preach. This is the faith that justifies. This is the faith that establishes the Law.

Not possible. There is no I in Christ. For we have crucified the flesh and the lusts thereof.

I see what you are saying.

We are to pick up our cross and follow Him. Calvery was two thousand years ago and we have been baptized into His Death. There is neither Jew or gentile, male or female, sparrow, or Scott, We are dead but live. And the life we now live in the flesh, we THROUGH the faith of the Son of God who gave Himself for us.
, However we have a choice, to MORTIFY the deeds of the body through the Spirit. John, Mark, Matthew and Luke had a choice to listen to the Spirit or not when they penned the Gospels. As John, Paul and Peter in the Epistles. And the other writers in the Old Testament. As we do today as we live and share.

It doesn't matter what we believe. Truth isn't subject to us. Paul explains how the Law. God's word is in our hearts. the Spirit, the new life in and through Christ.
As the other writers of the Holy writ. And you and I for that matter

These are dangerous times, end time prophesy is being fulfilled in an alarming and awesome way, elevating my convictions. What we believe will determine our behavior.
