It's actually kinda' scary when i think about it. They both were so nonchalant about it.
Maybe they are both so tired and frustrated with their marriage that one seeks suicide via deer attack and the other is very happy to send him on his way.

We should already be living on our Moon and living in space just like they do in the ISS. TITAN IS SO RAD DUDE.

Getting supplies to something 250 miles away is a bit simpler than getting them to something a quarter of a million miles away. Not that either is particularly cheap.

Not as good as some unhappily married astronaut dude trying to commit suicide by swan diving into a predatory-alien-infested methane lake on Titan but not bad as an interesting plot.

We should already be living on our Moon and living in space just like they do in the ISS. TITAN IS SO RAD DUDE.

Well, I was one of those expecting us to have the tech shown in the film 2001 A Space Odyssey back when it was filmed. So I am as much or possibly even more disappointed that we are still far from that goal as you are. The reason I mention Titan is because it is the most Earthlike world in our solar system.

It has tectonic plate activity, volcanoes, a weather cycle that mimics our but is based on methane, sand dunes, rivers and lakes and seas. It also sports an atmosphere which is mostly nitrogen and in which we would only need spacesuits to keep out the cold. Exposure to radiation isn't that much of a factor since Saturn's a magnetic field offers some protection and the atmosphere is so thick that it's like walking on the bottom of a swimming pool. So meteor impact possibilities on our shelter are reduced.

The downside is its distance from us and the extreme cold which poses a challenge to spacesuits and machinery. But colonization of Titan is indeed take seriously by NASA and certainly not dismissed as untenable or impossible.

BTW
If you die on Titan and want to be permanently cryogenically preserved for posterity all that you have to do is tell them to put you in a pine box and slide you outside the shelter. Instantaneous preservation!

Say! Here is some 2001 Space Oddysee Music Dude!

LOL! Poor guy

His swan dive into the unknown would probably be reported in the science journals and to the general public as one dedicated scientist's personal sacrifice of himself on behalf of scientific discovery. How else would they avoid the accusation of sending nut cases out to explore other planets at taxpayer expense?

Something along:

"To dive where no man has ever dived before!" motto.

Well, NASA has a responsibility to keep the taxpayer money flowing. So cover-ups for fouling up must be part of the plan. Otherwise they might get shut down for sending an occasional BOZO the clown into orbit.

Reminds me of a movie that a friend sent to me. Ever seen it?

I had seen the intro but not the rest! Imagine one of the Mars or Titan expedition crew members suddenly acting like that when you are halfway there. YIKES! LOL!

That's hilarious indeed! The sanest one in the crew is the chimp! LOL!

But sometimes the censuring fouls up and something gets through:

Actually, the sanest guy is the one who got ev'ry body, including the President, to singing "He's got the World in His hands" :D

i give that woman in the video a lot o' credit......looks like ev'ry day things like washing hair, etc. has a "system" to it....she must have LOTS of patience ^_^

Possibly very true. It is often those who lack a sense of humor and are unable to see the world through less serious eyes who are most prone to insanity. The woman did choose to keep her full mane of hair and to deal with it in the weightless confines of that capsule. Definitely deserves respect for that unwavering determination!

BTW
She must really consider her hair very precious. After all, she could have shaven her head prior to the mission. You know who is going to get the blame if one of those hair follicles winds up in someone's eye or in their food.

LOL! Re: the woman's hair, I didn't think about that

^_^

And it's true about humor...those who take themselves too seriously sometimes are very rigid and miss the genius of humor and not taking oneself too seriously. :)
