  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have my school decision down to two choices: Emmanual Bible College or McMaster Divinity College.
If I go to Emmanual, I will go for either the Bachelor of Theology in Mission or B. Th. in Pastoral Ministry. If I go to McMaster I would go for the Master of Divinity.
I'm interesting to know if anyone or anyone you know took these programs or went to those schools and what they said about them. I need guidance in making the decision.
On that note, I'd really appreciate some honest and sincere prayer; I really really wanna go for this and don't want to make the wrong choice about college this time.

Thank You (free rep points for those who pray :D bribery at its finest, lol)

Hey. I haven't heard of either of the schools, but here's some advice.

Which ones closer to home? I hate driving 3.5 hours to go home....And some people drive longer.

This is a biggie: Talk to some of the students about the drinking. I go to a Christian school and there's a lot of it. Find out if either are heavy alchohol schools....

Oh, and I'll send a prayer for ya, no Bribery neccasary!

My friend's husband is going to start at Mac next September, but I'm not sure why he picked it, I think due to location. I don't really know anything about Emmanuel though...visit both and see which you like more maybe. Emmanuel seems like it would have a more overall Christian environment, given that Mac is a secular school except for the School of Divinity. I don't know if that is what you are looking for though. Which program do you like more?

Well I've looked into both schools very closely. The Emmanual Programs have very similar courses to the Mac one, except that Mac has more choices and more choices that I want, such as Hebrew courses. I could also stay at Mac after for Seminary, but yes Emmaunal does have a more christian atmosphere since it's more of a personal school w/ courses that help you grow in your faith.

I honestly think I prefer Mac actually. My youth pastor wants to take me to EBCsince our church is affiliated with them.

btw, where are you folks from?

I'm going to be honest(actually I pretty much am always honest), but i haven't heard of either of these schools. It also helps to look for the things that go on at the school on the weekend. At my school there isnt much to do but drink...and I'm not a drinker...soo yea i get pretty bored.

Are you going to school for an undergraduate or graduate education. The Emmanual programs you mentioned are undergraduate degrees while a Master of Divinity is a graduate degrees. I think this would be one of the major factors in choosing a school.

I just found out yesterday that I can't enter into any Master's program without an undergraduate degree first. So off to Emmanuel I am. I might persue a Master's later on though. I especially want a Master of Divinity just so I can say "I am a Master of Divinty!!! muwahahaha." :D
I was actually hoping to go for a M.Div. because of the program contents but i can do that after I get a B.Th.

And you didn't know that? :p You need to get a undergraduate degree then a masters then a PhD. Few people can skip degrees.
