Colder Then Usual

Oh wow it is also -13°F here where I am as well although it's normal for my area to be very cold this time of year. I hope you are able to stay warm enough!!! It's awful when an apartment isn't well equipped for the cold!!

So were we, although like you we're usually this cold in January. Seems fairly normal for the northwestern U.S. Doesn't make it any less miserable, though!

We use insulating plastic to stop drafts from coming in around the windows, but it may not be available this time of year. Keeping curtains pulled can help as well.

Okay, so, how do you, @Somber , and the OP even survive at any point while outside? Are temps below zero F actually common enough where all of you are? O_O

Do all of you live that much father north than I do in the U.S.?
I would have assumed that negative temps in degrees Farenheit would only be even semi-common in the northern halves of Canada and Greenland or something.

I am only outside for a few seconds. I don't work outside or anything like that. So, I can handle it. Inside though it was hard to keep warm but now I have a heater, which seems to be doing the job. But it actually is getting a little warmer since I posted this. But we just had a blizzard today and we're going to have another blizzard tonight.

But the negative 13 degrees is very uncommon. We usually have an average temperature of 35 degrees in January, which I thought was pretty cold.

This is so weird. Last year we barely had snow, and now we seem to be getting lots of it.

I heard that too. But we are getting a lot of snow here.

It's not unusual to have these temperatures this time of year! And yes, far up north and in the United States!! I actually prefer these frigid temperatures rather than humid cold (like 30s to 40s) since that can be miserable. This weather in the negatives the air is sharp, the snow crunchy and the nights so still and magical with the snow! If you dress right and keep moving it isn't too bad. I've been out skiing in this weather and came back with frosty eyelashes, but stayed warm the whole time! I'll wear a snow mask to help if there's wind though since wind chill can be the worst in this weather! One time my whole braid froze solid because I went outside with wet hair! Was a very strange and interesting experience! It was around -18°F a few days ago but has warmed a bit since then so not so bad now. Haha
