For me it is very suspicious, what the Trump and Russia share the same planet. Surely it is the connection! LOL.

"Trump" can refer to a special kind of card used in trick-taking card games which will override the leading suit. This type of card can commonly cause new players confusion, especially in 500 or Euchre where the Jacks can act as a "Bower" which is a trump even though it is not in the trump suit. The term "bower" is derived from the German "Bauer," meaning peasant but also used to refer to Jacks. Jack Bauer was the lead character of 24. He was portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland, who recently took over the role of Big Boss from David Hayter in Metal Gear Solid V. Big Boss was first playable in Metal Gear Solid 3, a game dealing heavily with espionage and the Russians!

The connections between Donald Trump and the Russians are iron clad, don't even bother trying to dispute this.

Given that all 17 of America's intelligence agencies are in agreement that the Russians deliberately tried to interfere with the 2016 Elections, what are the White House and Republican majorities in the House and Senate doing to ensure that history doesn't repeat itself during the 201 Midterms?

It's a strange world we're living in at present. I grew up in a time when it was argued that such stuff as the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and Piltdown Man were examples of famous hoaxes. But they were carefully crafted hoaxes. Today, anything, however absurd, can be made up from thin air and there are plenty of people instantly willing to believe it without any hesitation.

Actually, it was 3.

Maybe we could specify exactly what type of interference actually happened before we come up with methods to prevent it.

"Interference" has become so over used that even a Russian official having an interview on a Russian television station about what he thinks about various candidates could be construed as "interference."

Yet, despite how vague the term has become, it is always treated like it means that the Russians directly overturned the results of our election, by hacking voting stations or something like that, even though there is no evidence whatsoever for anything approaching such a serious accusation.

Asking vital questions about Clinton's e-mails.
Also making sure they make health care more affordable for millionaires.

Yeah, not sure why what Flynn did before he was hired and kept a secret is used against Trump
Even assuming what you say is true (and it is contested) the problem there is Trump quickly fired the person who informed him of the problems with Flynn. Only later did he get rid of Flynn.

There's a novel called Killing Time by Caleb Carr, which is probably not the greatest novel considering that I barely remember anything about it other than what I'm posting below, but it did contain an intro which I found striking and prescient.

Basically the novel took place in the near future and involved the discovery of a group of people who had created a number of accepted hoaxes at that time, in biology, history, and so on. Early on we are given their motivation: each and every hoax that they made contained a large number of errors that any expert from the relevant field should have been able to detect immediately, and which should have given even reasonably educated people pause. The purpose of the hoaxes was to show that something could get a lot of publicity very quickly, even if it wasn't a very good hoax, but then to have the hoaxes get revealed and teach the public to distrust hyped up early reports. But, to their horror, none of the hoaxes were actually detected and so they inadvertently did great damage to a large number of fields. If I recall correctly, they even tried to poke holes in their hoaxes themselves but they were dismissed as fringe loonies for doing so.

I don't know that I'm recommending the novel, since I don't think it really did anything that interesting with such a great premise, but it is striking to see how well it predicted the current age (the book was published in 2000).

If the White House and Republican majorities continue with their dithering and fail to provide the American public with measures to ensure confidence in their electoral system in 2018, that is tantamount to treason!

...okay? :mmh:

Never thought I could see an allegation of treason that was so perfectly free of content.

I mean, at least the Russian allegations allude to some sort of espionage going on, even if they are terribly unspecific with what exactly happened. This allegation doesn't even include that much detail.

Yeah, not sure why what Flynn did before he was hired and kept a secret is used against Trump
Maybe because his team was responsible for vetting Flynn and maybe because Obama warned him and he refused to listen?

Also this?

"...the statement that was issued by the intelligence community in October of 2016 before the election, making clear that Russia was interfering in our election represented the consensus view of 17 different intelligence agencies. That’s not usually the way intelligence works. That kind of unanimity of opinion, particularly when the stakes are so high, is notable." - Press Secretary Josh Earnest, Jan 4, 2017

Now compare that with:

"If we had known the intelligence was wrong we would not have gone into Iraq. But the intelligence community, all 16 agencies, assured us that it was right. My speech at the UN was based on that information." - Colin Powell, Meet the Press, Sep 6, 2015

Another case of "there's no proof! Wait, proof? We need to punish leakers!"

Moreover was said several times: the election votes are not changed.

You're OK with moderate levels of Russian interference into our election?
