Republican Gov. DeSantis is taking credit as Florida booms a year into pandemic - CNNPolitics

"St. Petersburg, Florida (CNN)After a year of criticism by health experts, mockery from comedians and blistering critiques from political rivals, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is standing unabashedly tall among the nation's governors on the front lines of the coronavirus fight.

"Everyone told me I was wrong," DeSantis, a Republican, said in a fundraising appeal on Tuesday, drawing attention to his defiance against the pandemic. "I faced continued pressure from radical Democrats and the liberal media, but I refused to back down. It's clear: Florida got it right."
...
"DeSantis refused to implement a mask mandate in the first place, making him an outlier a year ago. At the time, he was hewing closely to President Donald Trump's playbook, which he argued at the time was good for business."

CNN Forced to Admit Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Refusal to Lockdown Florida is “Paying Off”

====================== and now my own comments.

And since some people "Might" be tempted to hope that "not really" is being inserted all over that CNN article by its author and that I simply omitted it -- here are the first four paragraphs in full - verbatim.

St.

As many parts of the country embark on an uneasy march toward normalcy, Florida is not only back in business -- it's been in business for the better part of the past year. DeSantis' gamble to take a laissez faire approach appears to be paying off -- at least politically, at least for now, as other governors capturing attention in the opening phase of the pandemic now face steeper challenges.

Despite far fewer rules and restrictions, Florida lands nearly in the middle of all states on a variety of coronavirus metrics. The state has had about 3% more Covid-19 cases per capita than the US overall, but about 8% fewer deaths per capita. More than 32,000 Floridians have died of Covid-19, and the state's per capita death rate ranks 24th in the nation.

(Of course someone "else" is free to imagine that "not really" gets inserted right after that as well. Everyone has free will and can suppose as they wish).

It is interesting that "criticism by health experts, mockery from comedians and blistering critiques from political rivals..." included a parade of CNN episodes opposing the Florida decision for that year.

It surprises me that CNN would print such an article, considering they're a propaganda machine. For what purpose? Journalism? lol

This virus was planned. They even had a simulation before the actual event. This isn't about a pandemic, it's about testing the waters for seizing control of the world through various means, whether it be a sudden pandemic, climate or some other excuse.

Satan always forecasts his moves, but I think it's because he has to. I'm waiting to see what's next.

They certainly lean "hard left" -- yet amazingly they were willing to admit to a fact that holds up. Maybe it is a sign that they are not willing to "go down with the ship" when it comes to their past pattern of siding with Cuomo.

I agree. It's odd for CNN to tell the truth, let alone promote conservatives. We must be in a different timeline (as the conspiracy theorists would say). :p

I just hope this busts the whole farce wide open and we can get some semblance of normalcy back.

CNN admits DeSantis is boasting about his performance.

Ron DeSantis' Florida boast rings hollow (opinion) - CNN

The OP CNN article is hardly as positive as it is being made out to be.

My guess was, now that their propaganda has served it's purpose, its time for them to come off as humble so they can get some of their ratings back.

545,000 US deaths so far, and the virus continues to spread. Nobody should make light of the most serious health problem in 100+ years.

Do you -- yes, you! -- know someone who has died from COVID-19, or know somebody who has lost a family member/relative/friend/co-worker? Ask them what they think about this virus.

I appreciate the vote of confidence on my cognitive abilities.

I do know someone who died from COVID-19, but she also had kidney failure and several other health issues that were the primary factors as to why the doctors couldn't treat her effectively, otherwise she may have survived.

No one is downplaying the virus. I said it was planned. I provided a link that shows they were doing a simulation on COVID before the pandemic. There are other links that can be provided to show it was being discussed and foreshadowed months, if not years, before it was released into the public.

Spouting conspiracy theories about a pandemic being "planned", if not necessarily downplaying the virus, is foolish and idle speculation.

Don't you find it a bit of a coincidence that they had a simulation of a virus outbreak in October 2019 and then had a real outbreak in early 2020?

I doubt you can provide definitive proof to convince me that this was just a coincidence.

Scientists warned that “it was coming” and politicians doing a “what-if” are proof of what, exactly?

I'll bet spring break takes the wind out of his presumptuous sails. Besides, who feels the urge to boast about getting it right when 32,841 people have died?

Florida coronavirus cases and deaths

No. Governments usually plan for outbreaks like that.

Interesting! Did you look at the video linked to? Did you mean to say that the World Economic Forum is posting their conspiracy theories? I dare say @Freth is going to agree with you!

Youtube is a platform. All manner of people can post there. But some are verified accounts for particular outlets.
