  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'll tell you what else I know. It's always the same guys who are always asking for proof of something, never actually answering or providing anything themselves.

idscience, I challenge you to look over my several thousand posts and note that most of my posts have abundant references, citations, explanations and in many cases (as was the case in my debate with Glenn Morton and others) I have done some calculations myself and presented the findings to make my points.

So, you can stand corrected: I do provide something. I provide evidence for my points. Whether I am in error or right it is important that my claims can be confirmed or denied based on the references and "showing my work".

Unlike some who come on here and claim all sorts of things like "this is biased!" or "the system is broken!" without showing any actual evidence of this point.

I have shown that global warming is a farce.

No. You have not. You have shown some data that you feel indicates global warming is a "farce". Others (including myself) have provided data and information in opposition to this "feeling".

The scientists/polititions that run the scam are frauds

UNEVIDENCED CLAIM.

At what point does an "unevidence claim" made so strongly turn into "bearing false witness"?

, and the best you can come back with is. "have you ever published a paper". Wow, now that is impressive.

That's because you appear to be ignoring the salient points and science I brought up in THIS POST (note especially the isotopic composition information) or THIS POST wherein I discussed your propogating an untruth (I assuming unknowingly) or maybe THIS POST wherein I addressed your points about "consensus". Or how about THIS POST in which I addressesd (directly) your McKitrick citation from earlier (I noted you didn't even bother to defend your citation of McKitrick after that!)

I also directly addressed your cannard about people predicting ice ages and showed you exactly how "prominent" that idea was in the past in THIS POST which you kindly blew off with more of your "invisible references" (they can't be seen because they were not published because of the censorship of legitimate science! Curious how you can know that there are so many articles out there that are so good but science just won't let them be seen).

So you'll hopefully understand why I ask you what your personal experience is in the area of scientific publications because you expend so much effort coming up with some "conspiracy theory" but yet don't quite bother showing proof of said conspiracy in publication and peer review.

So I'm obviously curious what your experience is. Are you like AV who talks about "peer review rooms"?

Or do you know something of which you speak?

Or maybe the next time I'll care even less.

Sadly it won't stop you "commenting".

I don't have to understand evolution if I believe in creation.

:)

That's pretty funny. Well, not really. It is what "Creationism" is all about at its root: the denial of the existence of an opposing view. Close your eyes tightly enough and pray harder and it will all disappear.

I understand that. Evolution is a "risk" for the Creationist. It's "thought crime" and God punishes for "thought crime". The creationist cannot soil their mind's purity with knowledge of things not approved of by God. Well, actually by knowledge of things not approved of by their CHURCH.

I don't have to understand Mormomism to be a Baptist, do I?

Unless you want to attack Mormonism at which point you kinda do.

I think Mormonism is a pretty hilarious example of fake religions, but I also feel the same way about all religions. But when I see someone who believes in magical invisible sky beings debate each other over the merits of magical underpants, I have to laugh.

If you want to be a Baptist and never bother trying to critique Mormonism, fine; you don't need to know a thing about Mormons or what they believe.

But that isn't the case here, is it? You want to tell scientists to take a hike when the science disagrees with the Bible. But you only really seem to know "half" of the debate (what you think the Bible is saying), so I'm still not sure how you get to make the call when science hikes.

In other words, he made the distinction, and I just chose the one he didn't.

Make sense?

A choice made between two alternatives when you only understand one is not really a choice.

And who thinks you're special, Thaumaturgy? Charles Darwin? NASA Administration? the IAU? the signer of your check?

No one thinks I'm special, AV. I'm completely unspecial.

Really? I have over 2,000,000 posts. Care to back that claim up?

 What does your post count have to do with miracles vs science you don't understand?

Is it "miraculous" that you can work a computer? (Well...maybe that...)

??????????????????????????
Does everything have to be OEM? or can God give us doctors who can now do some arm or leg attachments?

And why worry about Joe's limb, if you support Jane's baby being aborted?[/quote]

Please don't act like you know how we walk by faith; it belittles you.

"Perls to swine"

And this means...what?

Are you giving us great knowledge here and those of us who have been around this block a couple dozen times and who might know some of the science are simply failing to appreciate the "perl" of great price which you place before us?

Idscience is an ideolog and conspiracy theorist. He is not at all interested in any rational discussion about climate science whatsoever. I tried very hard and patiently to discuss the science with him, but I've given up on trying to have any rational conversation with him. I hope you have better luck.

Your only purpose is to argue with Christians. Why else would atheists hang around a Christian site emparting their perceived great knowledge to the poor ignorant bible believeing people. It's sad really. ARe you trying to prove something to us or yourselves?
Your god is science and that is ok. Many tribes around the world worship trees and stars. Worshiping the created things as you do, and not the one who created them has a long history. Some just can't see the forest for the trees. Some minds are more finite than others, some just hate God and take it out on those who believe in him. Usually in a group.
I have no doubt your sincerely think you are right and have to crusade around Christian sites to belittle. There is a term for that, and you wouldn't be the first ones to be sincerely wrong about the two biggest questions around. Why we are here, and how did we get here.
I understand why atheists cry so loud to be heard. Being less than 2% of the global population you feel a little left out. So, I take your tantrums for what they are, a need for attention. I don't take it personal, you can't help it.

Don't lose heart, there's always room to learn something new, even if it does challenge your perception of reality.

... that he's allowed to call you a pig because his holy book says so.

Which is why I maintain that my morals are better than those of the bible.

It's a metaphor. I didn't call anybody a pig. I guess science took up all your time in school. No time for english. Swine have no use for nore can understand or appreciate the beauty of perls.

Another one trying to start something, where there is nothing. Yeh, you have the moral hi ground for sure.

And you're allowed to call us mutant, copy-errored, apes because your unholy books say so?

Which is why I maintain that my morals go higher than those of your bibles.

Oh, I had plenty of English too, maybe a tad more than you, no?

But back to your point about pearls and swine. What did you mean to imply, exactly?

Mutations, we've all got 'em. Best to accept it and move along.

Here's a fun one for you, it's actually a mutation that allows humans to metabolize lactose. ;)

Why is everyone that disagrees with big brother, science, or the medical professionals a conspiracy theorist? Years ago they used to believe that if you were burned severely, the best thing for the burn was to put it under a heat lamp. I would imagine that anyone that believed differently was also called a conspiracy theorist. What ever happened to common sense?
