Church's response to Islam?

The church faces many obstacles today. One of them is radical Islam. This religion is militantly evangelistic. An influx of worshipers of Allah to our country is no accident. We have become complacent, easily accepting, not wanting to be accused of being intolerant. We would all say that we should love them and be kind, but where do you draw the line between kind and unwise? What do you think our attitude should be to Islam, Islamic people, and Islam's growth in this country?

Hi Laz

I understand your concern. The versions of Islam we get in Western Countries tend to be a more watered down version of the fundamental Islam that is prevalent in Asia and Africa. As a student of the religion there are many similiarities between Christianity and Islam in terms of their core Middle Eastern origin. It is often by identifying and relating to these similarities that we can begin to understand the mindset.

Political rhetoric aside I would suggest that one prays for wisdom in dealing with muslims and their agenda. Failure to do so ends up with this action and reaction things we have seen in Israel and the anti Western terrorist activity we have witnessed over the last decade. No meeting of minds just violence!!

There are many web sites which identify what Muslims believe in both from an Islamic and a Christian viewpoint. As Christians I believe we need to be wise but not bigoted!! To be informed and not be ignorant!! Inform the authorities if we have supsicions but not just because they are Muslim...if you see my point.

My two cents.....

It is important to study the history of Islam, too, so you can understand where they are coming from and what traditions they have before starting to do anything else. Their religion may have a few things in common, but there are many differences that are difficult for Christians to relate to. Unless you understand those differences and their origins, trying to talk to Muslims about Christianity is like banging your head against a wall, fruitless and painful.

It is good to keep preaching Jesus and the love for the bible no matter what....I also understand that there is much pressure on ppl who feel the need to paint a bridge over the 2 religions and connect them. However, this wont help...I think we need to tell people about Islam and but not make deragatory remarks cuz that wont help anything! Especially in these times, if people havnt noticed, Christianity, Islam and Judaism are all under the fire.....We should be working together even though we're different. I think God would rather see this then being at each others throats.....Ever stop to think of this is all another test from him above to see how we cooperate?

God bless

Muslim immigrants in this country indicates trouble for Muslims in their own part of the world. To meet and talk with these persons, at times, is a much more pleasant experience than speaking with Christian natives.

We should make every attempt to embody and exhibit Jesus's greatest commandment that we love one another. God thrives on all love; this is the best way you can assist Him, especially when you have to talk to/about people you're not familiar with.
