Well of course God set up the church to be governed by men. But that has gotten of track but in a way that was expected. As even Israel got of track and brought in many practices that God did not approve of.
Okay. I was just saying that that allowing men to run the affairs of the church is not the issue, although I have heard many people say that it is. They're normally people who don't belong to any church/congregation and claim there's no reason to do so.

Well the main stamp man has put on the church is creating all these varied beliefs held by all the different denominations. The church is definitely not of one mind and in many ways very worldly

The only gift giving i know of in The Bible, that people give gifts to each other. Is when the two witness are killed and people over the earth give gifts to each other celebrating their deaths.

Don't forget Purim my friend!

Gift giving, on any day, not just Christmas, is not a sin. But the overhyped commercialization and materialism associated with Christmas is.

That would be a different concern.

Did not know that gifts were given then. Is that the case for this in the Bible.

Purim and Hanukkah are not among the feasts/seasons proscribed in the Torah. Hanukkah is based upon the miracle of lights during the Maccabean Revolt. Purim is a later playful festival based upon the story of Esther (which is, in a sense, a comedy).

Note that Jesus celebrated Hanukkah (John 10:22-23) even though Hanukkah is not proscribed by commandment.

Almost as though it's okay to have holidays and celebrations that aren't explicitly commanded in Scripture.

Really do not see Jesus celebrating the Feast of Dedication. Looks like He came to the temple addressing the doubts of the Jews as to whether He was The Messiah.

He was threatened with being stone does not sound like He is doing any celebrating. Just confronting them with the truth, He is their Messiah.

Ah, so really just a coincidence that Jesus was at the Temple during Hanukkah then.
