  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is wonderful news - seeking a church will be a big step for you - This is where you listen to the Holy Spirit leading you. I wrote a post that might help you in your decision - just scroll down until you find the thread - What denomination should I be - it will help you. Don't get mixed up and confused by what everyone tells you - each person has their own faith they want to defend - but the important thing is that you just put your hand in the hand of Jesus and say 'lets go' - the Holy Spirit will lead you to where you should be.

I think it depends upon how outgoing you are. If it was a church whose doctrines and statement of faith I agreed with, I would probably want to meet the pastor/priest some time during the week, to express my interest and seek his guidance.

I don't think there is any point in attending a church if you don't have a strong bond with the ministers, and a connection with the other members. So some kind of official introduction would be essential for me.

But if someone was outgoing, and able to introduce themselves before or after the service, go for it. Just show up on the day.

mkay.

Churches are hard to fathom. Yes, simply attend any church.

Look around for groups that're willing to encourage your Christian walk. There are churches that go through the motions; and there're churches that actively live out life in Christ. Seek the latter; when you've grown, you'll be able to light fires in the former.

Hello everyone, i am a new christian but i have never been to church in my life

I do not know anyone who is a christian or anyone who goes to church

Do i just turn up on a sunday ? Im not sure what to do

Any help would be much apreicated

To keep this simple, let me just say a few important things: First, no one can go to church, for a true believer in Christ is in the church --the body of Christ, the household of faith, etc.

Go to a sound Bible teaching church gathering without a lot of doctrines, rituals, ceremonies, programs, entertainment, etc. I may know of some in your part of the world, for I am associated with a worldwide fellowship of simply believers in Christ, and non-sectarian, who hold closely to the Word of God. You can write me at my profile.

Read your Bible daily (beginning with the New Testament, I recommend). You will find the salvation of God there in such as John 3; Rom. 3; Hebrews, and 1 Jn. 5.

Church meetings can be helpful if they hold to the Bible and not just take a verse here and there. Much help can come from REAL believers in Christ, such as you can find at this site. Look up always, and receive God's belove Son!

Do you have a particular church in mind? Call up the church and speak with the secretary. Tell her the situation and ask if there is someone who would be willing to meet you and greet you at the door and guide you through the service :) It's always nice to know someone supportive will be there for you!

Hi crazynutsx

Have a look online for websites of churches in your area. Any church worth its salt in this day and age will have a decent website. You should be able to find a "statement of faith". Check that to make sure they're a bible based church. Stay clear of any churches that seem to emphasize some obscure theological doctrine at the expense of everything else. And above all - pray. Pray that God will lead you to a good church that will become your home.

God bless,
JJ
