Best RPG ever, or B3ST. RPG. EV4444444R?
I was so sad Square shutdown the guy who was remaking it for fun. It looked so amazing with new graphics. I do like that they remade it for the DS, but they could have done so much more for it than just new cut scenes.
I never cared much for Chrono Cross, to be honest. Had some good music, but I felt that dropping the main characters was a mistake for a sequel. Radical Dreamers was more of a side story that I never bothered to play because of it being in Japanese, though I know there is a translated version around. Not it isn't. Only when you combine it's story line with both Radical Dreamers (SNES semi-sequal) and Chrono Cross do you get that. The story line is quite interesting, got me interested in logic, video games, fiction, reading, and a number of other areas.
These guys were pretty far along when Square shut them down. There are at least two other remakes as well, one of which tried to turn CT into a 3D game. Both had very little done on them, but of the 3D one, the scenes are beautiful, especially considering how long ago that remake was made.
Best RPG of its generation, hands down. Final Fantasy VI was also fantastic (and arguably the last great games in the FF franchise), but CT had a better battle system and, most importantly, no random encounters.Best RPG ever, or B3ST. RPG. EV4444444R?
CT is the best jRPG to date, by a long shot. I play it again about once every other year or so. (I go on retro kicks every now and then)
Buuuuut, I have to say I prefer wRPGs. I view the Baldur's Gate series, Elder Scrolls series, and [almost any Bioware game] as a lot more fun. I prefer 'creating the role' versus 'playing the role'
