  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Looking for opinions on Chrome's update for Andriod. I have an S4 with android 5. Holding off until I know what I'll be getting.

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking... are you asking about the Chrome web browser, or are you asking what Android (which is made by Google) is like on newer phones?

If you're wanting to upgrade to a newer version of the Galaxy, Android 6 (Marshmallow) is more or less similar to 5 (Lollipop) in look and functionality. If you end up getting a newer Samsung phone it will operate not dissimilarly to your S4 (just newer and faster).

The look and update availability will be different from phone to phone. If you end up getting a Nexus it will be pretty barebones in what it comes with (just Google Apps) but will be quicker to get updates (and they're generally faster both in hardware specs and the fact it doesn't come with the crap heaps of other companies put on).

No, I refering to the recent Chrome browser update for the S4.
If I'm not mistaken lollipop was the final upgrade for Android on an S4?
Anyway, every time I go online now I get a message asking if I want to upgrade to the newest version of Chrome and I was hoping I could find out if those who have already updated it wish they hadn't.
I recall when I updated to Android 5 there was no going back to 4 and many wish they hadn't because several problems were discovered shortly after its release.

Grafted, I updated to the newest version of Chrome with no problems. Because all Chromebooks are manufactured by Google's specs, all Chromebooks will accept the upgrades. Unless you have installed programs that did not come from the Google store, you will have no conflicts.

I've never seen any Chrome updates that have been radically different or broken on Android.

As for going back, if you really want to you can go back (though I don't really recommend it unless things are seriously broken), but it requires factory resetting your phone in the process. You can download an older version of a Samsung ROM and then re-flash it to your phone.
