So, when it was time to perform a crucifixion upon an adjudicated "criminal", you needed wood.
So, they took small trees, stripped them of limbs, bound them together carefully, and created a "Cross" or a hanging Tree.
Your NT says in Acts 5 that "God raised up Jesus who you slew and hanged on a tree"
and, Galatians 3 says that "cursed is anyone who hangeth on a tree".
That is also Deut 21.
And, its interesting that King David's favorite son ended up hanging in a tree by his hair.
In the case of Jesus, the "curse" is the judgement CUP that fell upon Jesus for the sin of the world.
That is Jesus crucified to a tree....Hanging on it.
If you are born again, you are a "child of the Light".
Jesus is The Light of the world, and God exist in Light as Righteousness :which is Spiritual Light and Truth.
IF you are born again, you have been "translated from Darkness TO >Light".
This Light, is the Light of Life who is Jesus... John 14:6.
So, when you are "in Christ" you are in the LIGHT of God, which is the Kingdom of God.
This is why the NT defines you are a """child OF THE Light"".
Darkness is the absence of Light.
Spiritual Darkness is the absence of True Revelation, or the Truth.
Jesus is revealed as Light, The Way, Wisdom, Truth, and Eternal Life.
All those spiritual qualities are "made unto us", when we are born again, by us being born again into God's Spirit.
3 others are Sanctification, Redemption, and Justification, of which Jesus is made unto us those 3 also.
The "knowledge of the Truth" is to come into THE Truth, = Born again as part of The Truth.
The unbeliever is every learning but can never come to the knowledge of The Truth.
Notice. ... "knowledge of THE...Truth.....THE Truth......who is that?.. That Jesus, who is The Truth, The Way, and THE Life".
So, an unbeliever lives in darkness and is not able to come into THE Truth, until they BELIEVE.
To become a part of The Truth is to become "In Christ" who is THE Truth.
Knowledge, water, lifestyle, commandment keeping, Torah keeping, can't get you into the Truth, as you have to be born again into the Truth, by God, who is The Truth.
