  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Even the sharpest knife in the drawer cannot sharpen itself. Sometimes criticism can be beneficial if the recipient is wise enough to disregard nonsense criticism and learn from useful criticism.

If you are not open to correction or advice I guess you may feel persecuted if someone offers correction, even if they do it out of love in a nice way.

A personal observation is sometimes occasionally when some people get a bible in their hands they think they know everything about everything and proceed to attempt enforce their interpretation in others forcefully.

I think those people would be perceived to be annoying people anyway Christian or not.

From a wise Christian you can learn lots, and from one making mistakes while learning as we all have you can learn what could be done better.

I guess I'm sharpened but it gives me a headache.

So true.

That's what I try to do to Christians when I persecute them (I'm confessing here, give me a break), I tell them I'm listening in some meaningful way, but then I leave out the one obvious piece of information they can tell I must know or I say something hard to understand, which is very precisely to the point, to the point that they are not likely to want to hear it. That way I can laugh at them, without their comprehending it.

The annoying thing is that sooner or later, everyone but the Holy Spirit gets a literal interpretation of things, that's what gets me. They use it to barb you with their way of seeing things, like maybe if they can't give you the mark of the Beast, they'll give you a memory of themselves you can't ignore. Something like that, anyway.

I have learned to just take a break. I just walk away. I don't come back, for a long, long time. It usually takes that long to grow again. Fortunately, on the internet, they can't reach you if you don't first want them to.

If you are struggling with Believers who don't fundamentally confess sin, in all honesty, even sins you ask them to repent of, you are up against a brick wall. There is even something wrong if you don't see people occassionally volunteer a confession of one kind or another, seeing that is how you know the person and the Church you're in actually loves you. Without love, you have nothing.

I say get out. I say go somewhere. Go somewhere that you can appreciate life. Go somewhere and remember you are a mortal, weak, sinner, but God loves you and was never interested in Believers who aren't prepared to keep Judaizing to themselves. In Heaven, everyone is against that.

I'm going to stop. I'm going to stop even replying, I think. I noticed that the less I said, the more people respected me, already. We all forget one thing, as Solomon said "With more knowledge, comes much grief". If you are trying to say you know everything (it all) and you are not the Holy Spirit, but you don't think anyone has more authority than you, WAKE UP, you are playing God!

Perhaps this thread should be entitled "Christians Pretending to be Christians Persecuting Other Christians." A true Christian adhering to Jesus' teachings would be filled with love not malice toward others.
You apparently never met Evangelicals. I mean this in the nicest way possible, but many Protestants are darn near bred to despise other Christians that don't adhere to sacrosanct "Solas". But, when they call the Church heretical, I laugh. Because I know the Faith that Established the Universe was around longer they are, and even the Gates of Hell will not vanquish it.

In the end, it's an issue of ignorance. I was blessed to have an LCMS father, so I'm very knowledgeable on Protestant theology, but they're humorously ignorant of Orthodox, and Catholic, theology. The sad part is that they refuse to educate themselves too.

In other news, don't get me started on inter-Orthodox 'persecutions'.
