  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

With the churches stance against many of today's popular lifestyles, do you think we will be under persecution for committing so-called "hate crimes" for standing up for what God's Word says?

Do you think that we will need to start hiring people who are opposed to the church in general just because they are need of a work?

I've heard this question asked amongst some of my own friends and was curious what the community here had to say.

I do believe it is knocking on our doors. In California, the church stood up against homosexuality with the ballot measure, and I am sure we remember how that community reacted to the Mormon churches and the other Christians that help fight that measure . In Anchorage the church stood up and fought a city ordinance that would have given gays anti-discrimination rights, and they nearly won here.(assembly passed it, mayor vetoed it) And it was crazy what would have been illegal to do if it had passed. The homosexuals are getting close, and once they have their anti-discrimination shields, they will be able to walk right in your churches and become members, and if not, it will be a hate crime. It was discussed over the radio for months up here, if they were part of your church, and then "came out of the closet", you couldn't tell them they are no longer allowed. If they worked for the church, you couldn't fire them. etc etc.

If they get a protected status, they will be able to tear churches apart one by one with protection of the law, whether you agree with their activity or not.

absurd.

christians have protection under hate crime laws, yet nobody seems to think this unwarranted.

I don't think that it is a hate crime at all. It is a foundation of our beliefs because our beliefs are based on the Word of God, not our own opinions. I do believe that they may call it that and will continue to push until they can become a part of Church by force. It's too bad. They see it so wrong. It has nothing to do with the person, but the sin, and since they are not repenting as we are told to do, we cannot accept them fully. It is the lifestyle we object to, and the resistance to really following what the Lord wants. We can love them as people. It is sad, but the truth.

It is an upside downside world, speaking the truth is called a hate crime? It is love that causes us to speak truth, for all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. The church grows under persecution, It may be that our Government will pass such laws but that does not mean that we should bow to that law, for God's law is above man's law and it will cause persecution. It is already going on in this country where schools are spreading deception to our children and our children are not able to share thier faith during school.

yes because beetling down gay people is a hate crime

All that wheat thrown in their sleeping faces . . . or did you mean beating? As far as I know, conservative Christians who preach and practice the truth don't do either.

Children can share their faith in school. There is no persecution of Christians in the US.
