Ex-residents say US response to purge was lacking

BAGHDAD -- The two men knocked on Abu Salam's door on a Friday morning. He was one of the last remaining Christians on his block.
"Peace be upon you," they said, and Abu Salam, a man in his 50s, repeated the greeting.
The pair, one fat and the other thin, spoke politely. Both were clean-shaven and wore slacks and button-down shirts.
"You are now aware the neighborhood of Muwallamin belongs to the Islamic State of Iraq," the bigger man said. "We have three conditions you can accept: You can pay a tax, become a Muslim, or you can leave your house and we will help you take out your furniture."

Wow, these men were polite, offered him the ability to stay and even offered to help him move.

When Israel came and took our home, they came in the middle of the night with soldiers and armored trucks, wouldn’t speak Arabic, only Hebrew so it took our family a good 20 minutes before we even knew what they were saying and in the end we had 40 minutes to get as much of our personal belongings as we could from the home and land that had been in our family for over 500 years before we were driven off to a refugee camp, dumped never to be allowed back to our home again.

And these are the same people who claim Muslims are barbaric.

This was Jesus' words to his apostles when he sent them out to the people. If they weren't received, they should then leave.

One of the sad characteristics of life today, I have observed, and experienced, is that people can be very polite and accommodating, but when your back is turned they will rob you blind.

The bibles says "It is better to trust God than to have confidence in men" it goes on "It is better to trust God than to have confidence in Princes"

So what is the message? Trust God! Yes without doubt. What about men? "trust no-one"

It is odd that most people here that bash muslims, support Israel.

It might have something to do with suicide bombers as that is what is seen on TV.
I am not to sure that many people understand the history of the conflict between Palestine and Israel.

I think in the last year there has been 3 or 4 sucide bombers, that killed about 15-20 people.


Israel in the last year has killed over 800 Palestinian civilians though indiscriminante bombing, shelling and shooting in Palestinian cities.

Yet Palestinians are the "terrorists".

I recall when Ariel Sharon met Yasser Arafat to discuss the land boundaries over there.

Ariel asked permission to tell a story. Yes go ahead said Yasser.

The Israel people can recall day when they had a miraculous crossing of the Red Sea. Reaching the other side Moses went for a skin dippy in the waters.

Back from his swim Moses cried out, Who has stolen my clothes? The Palestinians have stolen them cried the Jews.

Having left Gaza to the Palastinian, it has fallen into destruction. Facts are to be seen that without the hard working Israel people, the whole area would be decimated, and would fall into ruin.

As I see it

Palestinians have lived and prospered in the region for thousands of years with out Israel, we shall do it again with out Israel.

Gaza is in the circimstances it is now because of Israel. There is absoultly no one else to blame for the failing of the Gaza economey but Israel, when one can not import or export and at the same time is charged heavy taxes to operate a business by Israel the economey is set up to fail.

Palestine was one of the richest proviences under the ottoman empire, it has a thriveing ecnomey, rich aguculture, a growing industriral sector and the lowest unemployment in the Ottoman empire.

Today Palestinians have had their lives destroyed, their livelyhood striped from them and their nation raped by Zionism.

The US gives Israel $7,023,288 per day, well giveing Palestine nothing. Palestinian businesses can not opreate due to the curfews, closed borders, constant violence and land seisuers.

Israel does not want Palestinians in Palestine, it has been a corrnerstone of Zionism since it was delvoped in the late 19th century that the Arab population of Gaza would have to be "transfered". Israel makes the lives of Palestinians as difficult as posible. Of course the economey of Palestine is destoryed, a Palestinian farmed can not even grow fig trees with out Israeli settlers riping them out of the ground.

All us Palestinians want is the oppertunity to live in our nation, free of zionism, free of the fear of Israel, free of their opression and persecution. So that we may live our lives and succeed of fail on our own merits. That is a right of every human, the right that has been denyed to Palestinians for the last 60 years.
