Does anyone have any personal knowledge of modern Christianity in Ireland (Northern and Southern)? How are things there? Are there many charismatic churches there? How difficult is it to plant evangelical churches? Impressions.

I have a friend who has a church there. Right near Belfast and he is experiencing a lot of lost souls getting saved and some of these are gangs/drug pushers etc.
I think I may even have a link to his site that tells more than I can. His name is Shane. I know they say they need more Christian leaders over there. That is the extent of what I know. (oops sorry about links)

I do not know how much this will help, if any.

My mum's side of my family is from Ireland so I like to keep up with what's going on there. Right now they are experiencing the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in numbers unlike any other time before in history. People are being saved and filled with the Holy Ghost in drones of numbers, and for that it makes me long to go see my fellow Irish brothers and sisters in Christ. Pray for God's Spirit to continue to move there as they need is desperately.

Shalom

Hi there:wave:

Some big pentecostal churches in Dublin.

Not to mention those members of the Roman Catholic church who are 'saved'.

In planting churches each country has its own challenges. But there is a huge irish ex pat community in most British cities. many Irish people get saved here and then go back there. my uncle actually is from County Cork working here and made a decision four months ago. His wife prayed for him for 25 years for salvation:clap: .

Back in January, we had a pastor from a large evangelical church speak to us. He said that Ireland (north and south) has been one of the deadest areas in Christendom for some time, but it's changing. More and more churches are being planted.

Where Ireland once was the leader in sending missionaries, it is now one of the top destinations for missionaries. Occultism and paganism took root for a long time.

I'm going to PM you the link to his church. I'm sure he'd be glad to correspond with you if you had anything specific you wanted to ask.

My ancestors are from Ireland, but my heart burns for it like I was actually born there. Some people even say I'm obsessed with Ireland :D lol. I recently talked to somebody online from Ireland(a teen atheist), and they said many people are falling away from the Catholic church and are denying God altogether. No offense to Catholics, but Catholicism is so legalistic. The people of Ireland need the Spirit of God to revive their passion for Christ! I feel a call from God to eventually minister in Ireland. I watched one of Benny Hinn's recent crusades in Belfast, and I was brought to tears when I saw the hunger for God in the people of Ireland. Ireland needs its own charismatic movement to revive their passion and to break off the chains of legalism from the Catholic church. Note: I am not bashing the Catholic church in particular, but the overall spirit of legalism that comes from any denomination into the body of Christ, but the Catholic church is the main denomination in Ireland.

My wife and I have that same holy obsession for Ireland. Can’t explain, but its there. We have planned a trip there in the Spring and hope to partner to help plant a Vineyard (or any other Evangelical) church there. I know that there is only one Vineyard in all of southern Ireland (Dublin) and two in northern Ireland (in and near Belfast). If I were younger and I felt it was in the Lord’s will I might go there and plant one myself. But if I can’t, I can help.

Well, Herr Danny, this is nooz to me.

BTW, Germany, the birthplace of Protestantism, is today one of the least Christian nations in the Western world with something like 5% of the population churched. America, on the other hand, has a church on every block.

Ireland, too, especially, southern Ireland, is also highly unchurched, even pagan in places, and some kingdom work needs to be done there even if Americans have to do it.

At least that’s my take on it.

During the first month I attended the Vineyard here in good ole Nacogdoches Texas, we had a guy visit us that had planted a Vineyard in Germany...made a big impact on me.

When asked where I want to plant a church, my response has always been, "wherever the LORD wants me too". I've been told that I am to pastor a congregation. I have NOT been told where. The discussion has been about where *I* want to go....

I lived in Nacogdoches for a short time, NacDan, though that was, erm, years ago..... when was a Vineyard planted there?

I have some acquaintences that desire to do church planting work in Ireland...... right now they attend a home church that does a lot of deliverance ministry from what I hear....

Our little Vineyard is in it's third year (I believe, Jim can give the exact planting date...).

Mentioned Europe to my wife last night...."Well, that'd be a different experience!"

The Church of God is pretty much leading a massive crusade into Ireland. Every COG conference I go to their is tons of info on missions trip to Ireland. A COG near me (my sister church) sent their choir of about 75 people on a missions trip to Ireland. There aren't many evangelical churches their much less Pentcostal/Charismatic but that's beginning to change. I think (though I am not sure) that the COG lead crusaded their is call "Recaiming the homeland" or something like that because so many Americans are the descendants of Irish immigrants (like me). That's all that I know about it.

The CoG's Youth and Christian Education has made Ireland their big push this year. They've been over a few times, and made a video that they're distributing to the churches. We had Pastor Nick Park from the Solid Rock church come and preach one Sunday, and he gave some amazing statistics about Christianity, paganism, and what exactly is happening over there.
