• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So he hates religion just for something to hate?

Or is he taught to hate it?

I hate religion because religion has throughout history been an agent of social manipulation, conflict, and persecution. Theistic religion in particularly has proved to be profoundly violent through the centuries. From religious wars between people IN THE SAME RELIGION, to religious wars against other theistic religions, to persecution of those not adhering to the dominant religion, to the indictment of early scientists for simply publishing scientific facts...inquisitions, crusades, witch hunts, suicide bombings, wars, occupations....ALL IN THE NAME OF GOD... I'm sure you're proud of all that. God surely isn't.

I don't let any religion indoctrinate me as you have allowed yourself to be. Nature is my primary source of truth. Nature leads me to the creator. Not some religion. Nature leads any rational seeker of knowledge to the conclusion that creationism is a fairy tale, and nothing more.

Because we're not ignorant of his devices.
You are, however, ignorant of completely normal occurrences. How utterly backwards!

Take a step back and think about what you're insinuating here. You're creating a box that completely insulates the Bible from any criticism at all. If something contradicts the Bible, it's wrong and a work of the Devil. If it's in accordance with the Bible, the Bible was right all along and knew it before science did.

I could protect any list of claims with that logic.

Nature leads you to the grave --- period.

She demands your respect, then kills you --- sometimes very slowly and painfully.

If you're lucky --- or, should I say --- positively affected by coincidence --- you'll die in your sleep.

No, you can't.

Sooner or later, you'll make a mistake, and someone will [hopefully] be there to correct you.

I remember correcting someone just recently (can't remember who it was, though), who said we will believe anything.

If you look at Basic Doctrine --- it is a very rigid and narrow set of beliefs that excludes, protects, and exposes false prophets, the Truth, and cultism, respectively.

Everything leads to the grave. There's nothing that's going to keep you from dying... at least, not yet. They're making some pretty exciting progress on that in the science labs.

Oh, I think the Rapture could throw a simian wrench into Mother Nature's plans --- don't you?

Watch me:

The below statements are true:
1. This is all a dream. You're really a toadlike creature from planet Zorg that sleeps for decades at a time. You've been asleep all your "life."
2. Evil Zorglings want to keep you asleep forever, and there's a way to do that. If you dream your death without believing in Zorg, you will never wake up.
3. Logic, reason, and everything else making you disbelieve the above is simply the evil Zorglings injecting such blasphemies into your brain.

There. Now I can claim that everything to the contrary is evil, and everything in accordance is truth.

I dont think they meant you will believe "anything" in the sense you are taking it.

It appears to mean that there is nothing so outlandish that you would not believe it.

As they say: Truth is stranger than fiction.

however, since it has been brought up, and you have been asked not to use the word, if you continue to i personally, as well as I believe others will, take it as deliberately offensive. so you choose.

But when you use the word yourself, how am I supposed to understand it? My guess is that the word is used so commonly, that it's just a harmless word.

you are not an evolutionist so your opinion counts for nothing on evolution then?
I am fine with that. Except when someone tells me that Evolution and Christianity is compatible, then I am allowed to have an opinion.

and for that matter, this [wash my mouth]
imo about how evolution is a religion and an ideology is such a moldy canard, you do yourself a disservice saying such things.

No idea where this comment is coming from, but if i did say such a thing, then I am being deliberately offensive, not hiding behind semantics. Cos it is a waste of time being a smart alec if nobody notices :)

Wouldn't an informed opinion be more useful, especially to yourself?

Ones definition of an informed opinion is an opinion that agrees with ones own opinion.
Your opinion isn't uninformed because you disagree with us --- you disagree with us because you're uninformed. The technical definition of "informed opinion" (which is what we hold ourselves to) is an opinion based on knowledge of all the available facts, actually. For example, AV's opinion on evolution isn't an informed opinion. It's not because he disagrees with us, it's because he knows next to nothing about evolution. We're not as treacherous as you seem to think.
