As a Christian, I've always believed that in God's scheme, we have to receive an education not only to make the world a better place, but to promote the love of Christ to others.

Currently I've got a Bachelors degree in electrical engineering and am working towards an undergraduate degree in secondary school teacher. Also have future plans to do two subjects that teach me about how to design a satellite ground station so I can know how to construct one if God ever calls me to make one.

I was wondering what are some other Christian views on learning and if it says anywhere in the Bible about the promoting of learning and education ?

Does god often call random people to build satellite ground stations?

Do you mean this from a biblical or general perspective ?

I would like to build one because they can transmit radio and video signals, which are mediums for carrying the Gospel. I would like to build something like this as a donation I could give to a struggling third world community who needs to hear the Gospel.

I understand this is not from everyone, but I feel with my engineering degree that God is calling me to use it to serve him, even though I haven't had much paid experience with it

An education in the technical sciences can be a great boon to mankind. Doctors and hospitals are now treating cases successfully, including those which are critical, due to their ability to communicate instantly over long distances.

Education has gotten a 'bad rap' because of those who have conspired to use certain aspects of it, such as philosophy, in order to attack religion and morality. However, I consider these people as masquerading as educators in order to promote their own agenda, rather than their being truly dedicated to the proper education of others.

Christians don't need education because the bible is an education in and of itself; we don't need to know anything about linguistics or history or science or philosophy in order to properly interpret it. God will guide us as he sees fit and our first assumptions are thus always going to be the correct ones -- at least, if you're a real, spirit-filled Christian and not some hippie.

Yep. I can't count the number of times I've seen a completely illiterate person pick up a bible and read it perfectly.

No, hang on,...
