Christianity is about the NT, the OT etc are the foundation on which the NT stands.

We need to take the whole bible seriously and our obedience to Jesus.

Hello EdGar73, and WELCOME TO CF

I agree with you about our youth, that many of our "Dreamers" and "Zoomers" (in particular) need to be fed the basics about the Christian faith that are found in the Scriptures (and begin to understand the truth as it is taught there as well) so they can grow in the faith, but I'm interested, why did you specify the Psalms alone in regard to this?

I don't disagree with you, but I do believe we need to shape the message to fit the culture. The basics are important; however, application is in my view far more important in these times.

I believe "today's youth" is more interested in putting God's truth into action rather than back to basics Bible study.

How do you put God's truth into action if you don't study it?

How do you put God's truth into action if you don't study it?

You need a mentor who can help you learn by doing. I agree that the study should come first, but the young people I have worked with seem to prefer on the job training as opposed to study sessions.

Then their mentors should be insisting that they read his word for themselves. Young people aren't different today then they have ever been.

Still, a nice idea though. I'd like to see Christianity 'up there'.

Oh it is so tempting to want to apply the principles of 5th Avenue to the word but it just doesn't conform to the principles of men in that way. If it had to be sold using man's devices, it wouldn't be useful at all because it's benefits would be fleshly rather than spiritual. You can sell a lot of things by appealing to a person's fleshly nature. That's why it's so dangerous to try that with God. That's exactly what he's teaching against.

And there are people who do this. Elevation church, Jim Baker and all of these "word of faith" preachers do this and they fill the pews with people who are there to get rich but who end up instead enriching their so-called pastors.

Smart phones are new. The Internet is new. Today's culture is new.

God has not changed.

Like the apostle Paul, the message has to be adapted to fit the audience.

“To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law though not being myself under the Law, so that I might win those who are under the Law.” 1 Corinthians 9:20 (NASB)
