Let's say you have 10 Christian authors that you have read along with the Bible.

Of them, you consider one of them the far more accurate and more spiritual than the rest. What do you do?

Do you read the lesser works or do you do read more of the best works which are of the best writer?

You only have time to read so much, would you then not stick with the best?

I would read more from that one author, but we must remember that all men are flawed. We don't want to concentrate on any one person's ideas outside of the Bible. We want to read many ideas, even the weaker ones, so we know what is right. At least, that's my take. I've learned a lot by reading lesser authors.

For instance, I have 5 commentaries books/ sets. One does not have similar beliefs to mine, but is a great source of historical reference. While I have found major errors in his exegesis of verses, I have not found any glaring errors in his historical inputs. It is a great book to use for background. So, I read it and the stuff that I find contrary to Scripture goes in one...eye...and out the other. (?) :)

God bless,
Dave

I have more sets than that and I find errors in them too, all of them, except for one, so what I am talking about is the cream of the crop. For example, if you had the time to study all the writings of 1000 best Christian writers in the past 2000 years, and all of each of their writings in total, and then were able to isolate the top 2 or 3 for totality of accuracy and effaciousnes, spiritually, what if you could do this without having to read the bottom 998 or 997? Would that not be something profitable to you? Of course.

I have found at least one of those 2 or 3 whose writings today I can not say there is a single error. Though he is only human, and makes mistakes, his writings are to the best of my knowledge flawless, and the best of any man that I know of who ever lived for total content.
