Sure. But 47 guns? And access to guns for any psycho who wants one?Speaking from a biblical perspective this is my viewpoint on the gun debate. Christians should be for gun rights. Why? Because guns are used for hunting and the Bible justifies hunting. Even if you're a Christian pacifist you've got to admit that guns are used for hunting. So if for no other reason Christians should be for gun rights because guns are used for hunting.
Burglary is irrelevant to mass shooting. Here is a burglar that keeps on burglarizing because he never goes to prison. Just watch the last minute of the video .
The people who want gun control are soft on crime . Therefore gun control is NOT about making the streets safer . It's not about making anything safer. If you truly cared about innocent deaths you'd stop voting for people who are soft on crime.
this thread was about guns. people die all the time, every day, most are not victims of a mass shooter.Burglary is irrelevant to mass shooting.
By eliminating gun free zones that's one way, mass shooters nearly always target gun free zones. How would we do that without further gun control?

“Further gun control” is a wide open phrase. What does that look like to you? What further gun control will make a difference to the criminal? How would we do that without further gun control?
2 in 3 gun deaths are by the person's own hand and most of the others are either in the commission of some other crime, gang related or would have happened anyway. By this I mean that a person wanted a particular person or persons dead and would have killed them one way or another. Very few gun deaths are completely random or happen for no reason. The problem in America is citizens use guns to hunt other citizens. This makes our society less safe. Now America actually sacrifices lives of our citizens in our worship of guns. As a Christian, I am concerned with the unnecessary loss of lives.
There is a difference between living by the sword and using the sword. Living by the sword is using violence as a way of life being forced to use the sword to defend yourself or others is not living by the sword. This must mean something.......
“Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. "
Blessings
gun control is not just about hunting; moreover guns are not the only things used for hunting. I personally do not support gun control, but to suggest a Christian cannot because they are used for hunting is not a vivid argument. Then you are going against the Bible because guns are used for hunting. the Bible justifies hunting.
What is your source for this information?2 in 3 gun deaths are by the person's own hand and most of the others are either in the commission of some other crime, gang related or would have happened anyway. How many of those shootings were random and how many were by people who lawfully had the gun in the first place? How many were committed in the commission of other crimes?Among those gazillion other things, is anything as effective?
But they are out there in our society. So far in 2023 95 mass shootings with 141 dead and 365 wounded. Do you have a solution to this problem or do you not see a problem?
except that law abiding citizens do not commit murder as murder is the the killing of another person without lawful excuse and usually with malice of forethought. As to drunk driving we do have those laws the only way to completely remove drunk driving would be to remove any transportation people can drive which of course is not reasonable.Well, murders will always occur because some criminals will always resort to murder. We may as well make murder legal and allow people to preemptively murder people they feel like could be a problem. To outlaw murder only hurts and punished law abiding citizens who wish to not be victims. Same with drunk driving. People will always drive drunk, better strike down those laws too.
Actually, not only are most gun deaths with handguns, but most are by the shooters own hand. If you wanted to save the most lives why would you ban the types of guns that take way less than half of the total lives lost to guns each year?Because 100 years ago the US military and other worldwide nations weren’t sure they were ethical to use in wars and today, we have overcome that to such a startling degree that we can saw children in half with them during a mass shooting at an elementary school and not blink an eye, only say “yeah, but I’m not giving up mine.”
Except that considering that there are millions in this country would not really be reasonable. They were banned for ten years and what happened was congress allowed a per-determined ban to lapse.Ignoring that one can hunt without a gun just fine (as they did in Biblical times), I support gun control, not necessarily a total gun ban.
If you want a non-automatic or non-semiautomatic, stock gun without the upgrades for the purposes of hunting, then super. However, an overwhelming number of gun sales are not to people who want to hunt, and none of the semi-automatic, enhanced non-automatic, AR-15 style guns are appropriate or designed for hunting animals. There is literally no reason the layman needs those and I’m perfectly fine with those being severely limited and/or banned.
At the end of the day people either can or cannot be trusted with guns those who can be trusted do not need those laws and those who cannot do not care. No matter what TOOL we are talking about they do not act on their own.So elementary aged kids sawed in half by a gun, resulting in a gory scene that made a mortician vomit, and who are only identifiable by dental records is an acceptable loss in the name of being able to own a gun. And that happening 371 times, impacting almost 400,000 kids… It’s all an acceptable loss. Got it.
Really big of you to say other people’s kids lives are worth giving up for the sake of being able to buy a semi-automatic gun you don’t need.
Yet handguns kill more people and people keep focusing on the guns that take LESS lives.Yes, fully automatic guns are illegal, but weapons like the AR-15 are not. The AR-15 was initially designed for the military. The M-16 is based on the AR-15. Neither of these weapons were designed to wound. They were designed to kill enemy combatants in the most efficient way possible. There's no reason for weapons like the AR-15 or those similar to it to be in the hands of civilians.
The thing is too we do not know how many lives guns save how any they take only tells part of the story particularly sense most gun deaths are actually suicides most (though not all of whom) are not looking to take anyone with them.Guns save lives also. And some want to completely ignore that fact. Guns deter criminals. Thats why criminals target Gun Free Zones. Guns provide self defense/protection/peace of mind.. It's so hypocritical to see anti gun politicians surrounded by armed body guards . A gun ban won't turn a murderer into a saint. People can be run over, stabbed , poisoned , bombed , beaten to death with any object. A gun ban is like one step forward, yet 2 steps back . The mainstream media won't report on the good things good people with guns do . You have to buy an NRA magazine to find the good news about guns. Real news. Real cases where guns saved people .
Two issues good guys with guns are less likely to make the national news and number two how many times ( and this there is no way of really knowing is a crime not committed in a particular place because other people there may be armed. If more guns everywhere made us safer, America would be the safest country on earth. Instead, we have a gun homicide rate 26x that of other high-income countries.
The supposed "good guy with a gun" is rare, almost mythical.
I haven't compared the numbers but I'd be willing to guess that the instances of a good guy with a gun prevailing is less than the number of children killing themselves or others.
What you are advocating increases the number of casualties. More guns = more gun violence. That holds true all over the world with no exceptions.
Uvalde had armed security.
