IM not so HO, I believe that it's not the beat of the music or anything liek that that makes a song Evil or Holy, or whatever you want to call it, it's the words of the song, and, moreso in live concerts, it's how it is sung. if it is sung with a boastful, or "hey look at me" attitude, another word could be arrogant, or any attitude that is not giveing praise to God alone, then I belive that it is evil. or hypocritical, or whatever you want to call it, it is not wholesome. there are Christian rappers. I don't like Rap, but I like Christian Rappers, mainly because they are proclaiming the Gosple through what they like - Rap, and being a light in dak places "when all other light goes out"

Not to be rude, but personally I think the concept of any style of music to be evil or wrong is a load of .... That whole argument crumbles when you try to back that attitude up with scripture. This debate is one of the main reasons why I don't approve of most church today.

What churches are against rock and metal music??? sounds odd to be honest....Anyway,
Personally I think that it is a blessing. It offers and opportunity to go out to people that would normally run away just by the sight of a cross. It is like the biker-bible (A bible, in everyday language, with pics of bikes on it), a lot of people dont like it...but the biker-church is growing because Gods word is told to them...without any judgment (as the priests are all old bikers).
Just my oppinion though...
The old district something whatever from our church was even in a punk band when he was young

i think you g2 be careful, christian bands are great but there are some you have to wonder about...coma and this other one i remember...

also think about the old "barnacles" of our churches who don't like change. in their days lots of rock music was real bad, be careful not to offend them and go all rebellious on them.

i'm a guitarist and i love a great riff. i play and listen to a lot of secular music because i like how it sounds, often at first i don't notice the lyrics too much. once i start to listen to the words more i sometimes decide to stop listening to the song. for example i've phased out of all red hot chili peppers music cause they always sing about sex and drugs.

p.s. a love a good hymn!!!

christian rock is awesome. without christian rock, i woudl not be christian. i discovered the Effect radio station and got interested because of all these rock bands who worshipped God. i grew up on rock and punk, and i thought that becoming christian i would have to give those up. its cool that i cna listen to the kind of music i like and worship God at the same time. it reaches a lot of people. i personally can name a bunch of people i brought to christian rock concerts, and they became saved. it is a great way to worship God and to spread the Word.

i know of a christian music store owner that did not like getting rock music in because of some weird thinking.

she explained that she knew missionaries that took some rock music to africa and the african people rejected it as "witch doctor" music or somethign along those lines.

new manager arrived and now the shop is full of christian rock. which is good, cos i need some new cds :p

I personally do not go along with extremely hard, headbanging stuff, but I really enjoy Contemporary Christian Music overall, even SOME alternative. Music, for the most part, is neutral, and with Christian-based lyrics, can be just as anointed as hymns in traditional styles. Everyone has different tastes, and I happen to be very versatile.

I think I found the site you were refering to but I also found this site that picks apart this atack on Christian Rock here it is the guy who did this page also has this page

OH MAN!!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NEVER EVER reference this site again. The man who writes this complete trash is Terry Watkins. He is the complete opposite of what a Christian should be. None of his writing has factual information nor is he honest. He claims to do things in the name of God but he will stab a knife into your back faster then you can blink. He is malacious with words and makes complete lies in his writings. If anyone knows a lot about P.O.D I encourage you to read his "expose" on the band. He makes the worst of accusations, and his judgemental attitude is pathetic at best. Anything that comes from this man's mouth or writing is NOT to be trusted.

i like a lot of metal and that... and i'd love it if i could find enough christian metal, but i simply cannot find it, and that leads me to secular metal. i don't see anything wrong with listening to secular metal though, but the point is, if only christian metal were more accessibile...

It all depends on what music you like. For me, christian rock is my hero, it's all I listen to. it draws me to want to know more, and listen more about God. It all depends on what your drawn to. We could say the same for classical, it's so boring :p People calssifying genres of music as of the devil, or christian, are people full of bologna.
i was at this break-up party for my parent's bible study last year and you should have heard what they were talking about at the table. they were like "country music is of the devil!" and "rock music is of the devil!" (exaggerated a little ;)). they were saying how the beat could be bad and condemming bands and songs here, there and everywhere.

one song they talked about was "give me a man after midnight" by abba. and my mum was like well if you're married course its alright!

i was doing my best not to laugh. the worst thing was these grown adults (most have kids) couldn't even come to their own conclusions they were like asking the pastor, is this good or bad?
