I guess you don't believe in an omnipresent God.I I think the bottom line is this. Would we feel comfortable having the Lord Jesus Christ sit with us as we attended this concert or not?
He became like the world by attending their social events the church folk did not like Him for doing that mixing with those sinnner.... how dare He?....Are we to reach others and be a light of Christ by becoming like the world? How did Jesus reach those who were "unreachable"?
Songs of Solomon, how many Puritans do you think loved that book?I heard a sermon one time about music in the church today. The main point he was bringing out is that in some cases you can't tell the difference between the so called Christian rock and the regular rock. To me any kind of heavy metal music is not good even it it has Christian lyrics. The decibel level alone in most of the concerts Chrisian or not is unhealthy for those attending. I think the bottom line is this. Would we feel comfortable having the Lord Jesus Christ sit with us as we attended this concert or not?
The man who preached this sermon made a good point in saying that just because you label something Christian does not mean it's good. He said before long there may be Christian pornography out there, think about that.
God Bless

It seems each generation wants what it likes to be the defacto sound for Christian music.
One would wonder what the difference between worldly music and sacred music was a hundred or two hundred years ago. Of course there was not really any difference we just assume because we use old hymns with tunes written over a hundred years ago that since they sound different from what we hear on the radio today that Christian music was different from secular music. But it was not the tune Greensleeves was popular at it's time and it was incorporated into several church hymns. It was not a sound that was noticeably different from the popular music of the time.
It is part of the effect of tradition upon Christianity that says these were the popular hymns of yesterday and therefor that is what the style of music is appropriate today. It seems each generation wants what it likes to be the defacto sound for Christian music. Just as when Martin Luther brought songs to the German language the old guard said no you have to sing in Latin or it is not separated from the world. We still hear that refrain today from people preaching their lack of historical perspective from the pulpit. What I have noticed is that people like a sermon if it speaks about what they already believe and they don't like the sermons that challenge their perceptions. But only one of those two causes growth in understanding.
But I certainly agree there is a lot of crude in what is called Christian music but that is true of the old hymns also. We have just tossed aside the worst ones over time and that is likely what will happen in contemporary music as well. Only the best of things lives on in music and literature and art.

Like I haven't heard this absurd analogy before. So, no, I won't be thinking about such an offensive premise.
Better, Jim, that you think about what a ridiculous comparison you are making here.
A question keeps popping up in my head with this discussion...
What makes something "Christian"? And if you are a chrisitan can you make an album that is unchristian? Or for that matter, should you as a christian do or say things that are unchristian?
Eventually Loveaboveall there will be the inevitable attempt to claim certain "pornography" is "Christian."
.
Porn and rock are too entirely different things so don't try to draw a comparison.
Then you have some incentive. Go for it.You wouldn't be here if we did.
Porn and rock are too entirely different things so don't try to draw a comparison. And loveabove all check out their lyrics to the songs Thornes and Deteroiate.
