What are your favorite Christian rock bands? I really like Relient K, Switchfoot, Hawk Nelson, Number One Gun, Mae, The Fold, Run Kid Run, and Ruth.

None. I wish someone would wake up these weak milk drinking Christians and show them what true Christianity is! I don’t hate them or the many people who listen .... I once loved CCM also. But, Once I started reading the Bible I learned how much Christian Rock really upsets God.

The master of Rock and Roll and the master of the Bible are not the same. It doesn't take much to prove that most Christian Rockers have long hair, dress, act and pose like worldly rockers. Not only that - they listen to sick God hating groups for inspiration. Oh, and the lyrics couldn’t convict a mouse to get saved - they are just feal good candy. My friend, my claim to the white milk these CCM artist drink is sustained in the fact that the world and the Christian both lift their hands and say! Grammy! Lights! Turn it up! And I don’t see them getting persecuted for their beliefs?!?!?!?

I'm not sure how much rock center bands I've tuned into recently..? Mostly I've been listening to bands who are off in their own lil genre. Well here's as close as I'm going to get for this round:

So basically we look at Jesus all bloody on the cross and say, "I don't want to disrespect you Jesus, but since I can do whatever I like and have grace like an umbrella over me I will do just that ..... It isn't the best I can give, but hey the old law is gone and now we have the new law. Mine."

Bible says to be Holy. God told Moses to take off his shoes because he was on Holy ground. Yep, them old stinky muddy shoes. Now that the Holy Spirit (God) is inside us I would think that we have more than just muddy shoes we can take off to show respect.

I once was like you, but then I realized that Jesus is real. God is real. Bible isn't something to take lightly. This isn't a fairy tale and I will only be on earth for 80ish years until I die - then I will be back for 1000 years. I need to be a living sacrifice for God now .... need to show him some respect. I learn more and more each day how to do that.

Rock and Roll isn't respect - it is disrespect to our maker who died for our sins. Burning an American flag is disrespectful ............... so is living in sin and saying "we are aware of sin .... who cares."

I should point out I am not overly-impressed by any self-righteousness of my own. I am just sad to see so many good people fall into the trap of Christian Rock. I truly believe, with a genuine heart, it is a trap that keeps Christians from growing and getting closer to God.

I'd say that people have taken the genre of Rock and done disgraceful things with it, however, if one takes the music and puts decent meaningful lyrics that are God-glorifying and soul-searching with a willing heart...what is so wrong with that? Please do NOT stereotype the SONGS (music AND lyrics) based on what others have done with the genre before. God created MUSIC for his glory. Therefore when people do use it for that we ought not to complain. It may not be our preference, but we should respect what it is doing for others, and people have gotten saved by listening to these songs. It is NOT our place to judge.

When I was younger and a babe in Christ I loved Casting Crowns and Third Day. As said in earlyer post, this isn't the place to debate CCM or Christian Rock. I came to a new understanding of how music is placed into the Christian life and sometimes I share that a little harder than I should. I just want to see Christians grow! BTW - stern warnings and friendly judgement can be helpfull

Maybe that's the problem . In my opinion, these two bands write mediocre songs and play mediocre music.

However, I have a great deal of repsect for these brothers in Christ.

As for "younger and a babe in Christ"...I've been a Christian since before you were born.

I have been a Bible teacher for 20 years, a youth pastor and a church pastor.

I know these people personally. My daughter is even part of their ministry that reaches people ignored and outcast by the Church in general.

All of this is meaningless, however, if the Bible condemns the style of music and the style of dress.

There is no such restriction, however, in the Bible.
