What are your views on christian relationships and what is a good relationship suppose to be like? Or should be like?

Hm, I'd say that dating someone you have no intention of marrying isn't a good idea...and most high school relationaships don't last. But still some do on rare occations. He should be your friend before your boyfriend, and you both should be attracted to the other's personality before apperance. (not that physical attraction isn't at all important)
But just like a hot guy can start to look uglier if he's a jerk, so can a super sweet guy who's an average looker become the most hansome guy on the planet! He should treat a girl like a treasure, not a prize to be won, but like a sister. Aaand, of course no sex before marrage. Is he your bf? Or is this like, a potential relationship?

Well it's kind of complicated I guess we can call it a potential relationship. I've know this guy since junior high and we where friend first before anything serious happened. Where not dating until were both 18 and I was very attracted to his personality and we fit eachother perfect and were planning on marriage and we both feel like we are meant to be together and he's a very put together guy. He's dosent look like the hottest guy but he isn't bad looking at all and he's just so sweet and this month Is 8 months together Also before anything happened between us he had little crushes on girls and I had little crushes on guys and we couldn't get with anyone else until we had eachother so I kinda think that's a God thing

That's awesome, and what an adorable love story! And I think waiting 'till you were both 18 is a very good plan. Now of course these are my personal opinions, and hopefully someone else might post their opinions on dating as well.

I agree! There's also Joshua Harris' next book, "Boy Meets Girl, say hello to courtship." It's just as inspirational, and shows the next step to take once one is actually ready to start a relationship with someone.

Dating in high school is stupid and pointless. It almost always ends badly, and it is so susceptible to emotions and sin. I really hate it. I don't disprove of it, but I highly suggest a big fat "No".

Christian dating should be to find a spouse, not to find what one likes in a spouse. People wind up with complete opposites, or with the same type of person. One can never really know. Some may never find the "right" person. I mean obviously, people have some boundaries, I do, but not specifics. One can never be specific and be happy.

i cannot say that i have ever had a "christian relationship".
everyone who has ever been in my life has not believed or had any faith whatsoever.
it is very hard.
i would like to meet someone, anyone, who believes like i do.

I think relationships should be those that are put into your path by God. If He sends you someone, you know it's someone you can begin a relationship with. Talking with Him through it all is the key. They might not be the same faith as you or even believe in God, but you just might be God's way of reaching that person in some way while also challenging your faith to its core, and the acceptance of all people.

When someone doesn't love God, he or she will still be dealing with selfish desires.

Remember that dating is to find your future spouse, so if you can't see yourself marrying them, don't start a relationship!

I agree! And the bottom line is to seek God FIRST above all things. God should be the center of all relationships. In 1 Corinthians 13, the Bible says that, "Love never fails," then why do relationships fail? We were born with a wonderful desire to be loved, and to love...but we need a love that no human can satisfy. But once we have a solid relationship with Christ, then, and only then, can someone have a exceptionally spectacular romantic relationship with another person, all to the glory of God! And thus, to fulfill God purpose for our lives along side with someone together!

So what you really seem to be looking for is validation that the relationship you are in is truly "christian," whatever that may mean to different people. You also ask what it's "supposed to be like." Well, if we assume a deterministic universe, then words like "should" are irrelevant, as there is only one possible way for things to happen. In this case, what will happen is dependent on the universal wave function and the boundary conditions of the Universe. Of course, you would probably say because of God and free will and quantum mechanics that the universe isn't deterministic, leaving us the possibility of the multiverse. If every possible universe occurs, then every possible outcome will happen somewhere, so what you do here shouldn't be feared. Either way it boils down to "do what you want, as nothing really matters." Yay nihilism.

i believe it's safe to go out on a limb and assume you mean in a romantic relationship, as a christian. i believe that, like all relationships, christian's romantic relationships should be grounded in mutual respect and common interests. the way the couple interacts should be glorifying to God and adhering to the standards he has set for his followers

Christian 'dating' should be for the purpose of marrying that person. If you're going to date someone it better be because you want to marry them, not just because you like them.

Also, if you do find a person you decide to date then sexual purity should be practiced until marriage. That would mean no kissing, groping, foreplay or anything like that.

You should have in mind to keep sexual purity within the relationship:

"Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart." 2 Timothy 2:22

i wasn't aware kissing was considered sexually impure. is that an across the board belief or a personal one? i am not criticizing you or what you said at all, (i am pointing that out since this is the internet so you can't hear my "tone", and i don't want to step on any toes ). i thought that as long as that was innocent, not, well, you know [insert hand puppet motions here], it was considered okay.

Well, in the Bible it tells christians to marry christians. But does it say anything about dating or living together? I don't think any of that happened back then, but what would the Bible say about it now? I have liked people but have never been in a relationship, and don't intend to be in one for a while. I usually don't think about if someone shares my faith or not though; if I asked them they would probably just think I was just some geek who read the Bible all day. And a lot of young people today are atheists. Or they call themselves 'spiritial, but not religious.' Although I find that to be a contradicting statement. But I think Christian relationships are important; if you married a person who was an atheist you would have no guarantee you would see them in the afterlife.
