  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

ok her are some things that are wrong with mainstream secular rap/hip-hop. one thing is that once some underground rapper comes out of the underground scene they come up with something artsy innovative and original andhe breaks out of the underground and it takes the mainstream world by storm. and everybody starts copying that creative style and trying to sound like that person. and so then you here maybe ten of the same songs every hour on the radio. now dont get me wrong there are some very talented original rappers out there that can really blow, but theres always somebody whos gonna copy it and water it down to where its radio friendly. so i think what people are missing is the "true" art form in hip hop because a lot of mainstream music period is missing the enthusiasim and energy that the underground provides. thats why radio is so repetitive.

pretty much all of the rap that i've heard from the christian music industry has been sub-par. both in terms of production and delivery. it's probably the worst type of music to blatantly preach with, it just doesn't sound right (though i'm not much for preachy lyrics in general).

Toby Mac is a bit too contemporary for me to be considered good. Great stuff while they were DC Talk.

Some of T-Bone is good also. His style gets a little too high pitched sometime.

KJ-52 I have yet to find a really good song. I do enjoy his em impersination.

heh. I'm all for the Grapetree rap though. pretty cool stuff there.

Yeah, personally Im not a fan of the gospel blended with the rap. Heres some of my favorite Christian rap:

KJ-52
John Reuben
(Knowda)Verbs
Mr. Del
Bloodlinez is a good dirty-south compilation album
Sackcloth Fashion
T-Bone (not, really)
Mars Ill
Tunnel Rats
all the other Uprok and Gotee family.

Uh, yeah, man. No doubt. What kind of rap do you like: east-coast, west-coast, mainstream, southern, solo, group, rock-rap, pop-rap, smooth-rhymed. Let me know and I'll let you know.
Some artists to look into: LA Symphony, KJ52, John Reuben, Grits, Cross Movement, Tunnel Rats, Mars Ill, Knowdaverbs, 4th Avenue Jones.
