There was an even more sinister side to this chip. A person's lifetime could be limited by programming this chip to dissolve & kill him with the viral substance it was made from. Lifetimes were controlled like this to avoid the cost that growing old places on the government. It was also used as a means of eliminating people with chronic illnesses that put a drain on the medical system. People who refused to have chips implanted in their bodies roamed as outcasts. So actual Satanists, not the comic book ones, don't have scary dark powers, and most Satanists don't even believe in the existence of Satan or devils of any sort to begin with. LeVeyan Satanism is a philosophy of selfishness and self-worship, "Satan" is merely symbolic. There are Satanists who do believe in Satan, but they are far fewer in number and they also don't have mystical dark powers either.
The "danger" here is in mistreating your fellow human beings and thinking they have spiritual cooties and are going to hex you. This sort of bogeyman thinking is superstitious hokum. The command of Christ is absolute: love your neighbor. If they are hungry, give them food; if they are thirsty, give them drink. If they hate you, you love; if they curse you, you bless.

There's a difference between satanists of the historical variety and of the lavey satanism and there are also discordian satanists that may incorporate misconceptions into their beliefs just for kicks.

Contemporary Satanism of the LaVeyan type is not a theistic (or whatever corresponding term you might find for it) religion. It's closer to Ayn Rand's "Objectivism" than to the stereotype you are familiar with. They don't believe in a literal devil OR god, instead perceiving them as symbolic myths (and embracing the imagery of a rebellious misfit who opposes any kind of tyranny). So yes, they are atheists (of a kind), not actual devil-worshippers. Just don't lump all other atheists in with them, or else you'd have to do the same with all theists when we talk about ACTUAL theistic Satanists.
They are basically dog-eat-dog individualists, social darwinists who embrace egotism as a virtue.
There are some groups affiliated with the "Left Hand Path" (a term derived from Hindu terminology, where it denotes religious traditions that seek enlightenment by breaking taboos instead of upholding them) that actually *DO* believe in the supernatural, but even these rarely resemble the stereotypes you know from horror films and evangelical propaganda. They often believe in a kind of Jungian "shadow work", where you have to confront your repressed, darker aspects in order to keep them from becoming monstrous, and instead becoming a more actualized person by moving beyond that. In their opinion, people who just try to move towards the light just cast increasingly darker shadows, repressing aspects of themselves that do not fit into the externalized image of virtue and morality - and these shadows fester and grow monstrous, often even while the believers are still convinced they are champions of good. (see: the Crusades, the Inquisition, even the Nazis).

People, if you want to testify to actual Satanists, don't start out by peddling the bloodthirsty [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]-and-bull stories that they'll immediately identify as the kind of made-up nonsense Christians tell each other in order to bolster their own fears and faith (and maybe titillate themselves).
Do the legwork. Find out what they actually believe and what they are like. If you go to them with the content of this video as your reference point, you'll meet nothing but shut doors, and rightly so.
It's the equivalent of going to a Wiccan and claiming that their religion is actually devil worship culminating in human sacrifice.
Or - to make it more relatable to those who cannot put themselves in anybody else's shoes, and therefore DO assume that anything apart from Christianity as actually demon worship - the equivalent of ancient Romans claiming that Christianity was a cannibalistic sex cult, drinking blood and eating flesh while addressing each other as "brothers and sisters", talking about love all the time.

That's the Easter Proclamation. the "lucifer" there is Jesus Christ, because "lucifer" is Latin for morning star; and Scripture calls Christ the morning star (2 Peter 1:19).
"Lucifer" isn't a name for the devil. That's a misreading of Isaiah 14 based on making the prophecy against Nebuchadnezzar spiritually about the fall of the devil; but the text never mentions the devil, it calls the king of Babylon "dawn bringer" aka the planet Venus as a sarcastic epithet:
"You will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon: 'How the oppressor has ceased, the insolent fury ceased! ... How you are fallen from heaven, o day star, son of the dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! You said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven above the stars of God, I will set my throne on high; I will sit in the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.' But you are brought down to She'ol, to the far reaches of the pit."
The king of Babylon as ruler of a mighty empire had conquered and owned many nations, and the ruler of Babylon was treated as a god, and insisted on being worshiped as a god--but he is not a god, he is just a mere man who will be beaten and brought low, and one day die and be in the grave like all other mortals.

If 'Lucifer' was a king, then who was this 'devil', .. or this "Satan" Jesus was being tempted by? Who, some Real-estate Salesman?
