Does it include the persecution of Orthodox Native Alaskans by US government financed Protestants?
Foxe's Book of Martyrs?
No thanks; I'm not into Protestant propaganda. Read some of the later chapters; you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.
I would suggest going down canonized Saints lists of various Apostolic Churches and Protestant denominations and doing individual research. Its far more neutral IMO.
It is a very good question. The link was to a book of martyrs. Orthodox Native Alaskans were persecuted by Protestants and some Roman Catholics.I love you like a brother but what kind of a question is that?
I haven't looked into the history enough to tell if there was death from Protestants, but it may as well have been.Rick Otto said:Tell us about the Native Alaskan Martyrs that died for the faith at the hands of these Protestants.
Well, just a minute, O.k. minutes up. You said something about Protestants persecuting people? What kind of Protestants? Over my 37 years as a Christian I can't ever remember a "real" Protestant doing harm to anyone, not like that. Do you mean when you say persecute, tourture or killing or something of that nature? The God I know is one of love and peace. There are other gods, "lots" of them. But they lack one thing, Jesus Christ, now he was persecuted, he was tourtured, he was crucified. There is a name for the god that did that to him. He is known as the god of this world, this evill world. Christ is from heaven. Satan is from hell. The choice is ours, the god of this world or the God in heaven. Now back to your statement, protestants persecuting people, who do they answer to? My JesusIt is a very good question. The link was to a book of martyrs. Orthodox Native Alaskans were persecuted by Protestants and some Roman Catholics.
We were just talking about persecution in TAW and Alaska was brought up. Would you like the link to the thread (or at least the page)?

Children taken from their parents, raised Protestant and taught to hate Orthodox.
There was a Lutheran mission that was supposed to bring Scandinavian reindeer to Alaska. It composed of mainly single men who planned on marrying the Orthodox natives so that there would be no Orthodoxy in that area.
It failed. The missionaries became Orthodox and the reindeer they brought with them died!![]()
All kinds.Well, just a minute, O.k. minutes up. You said something about Protestants persecuting people? What kind of Protestants?
There was a book written about book burning Fahrenheit 451 or something like that. It was made in the 60's describing a society that wouldn't tolerate people that wanted to read books, any books, think for themselves in other words. All under some sort of political control. Must believe what the teacher says, right? wrong! It was their way or the, well you know, they would simply kill them. So I ask again, who where these Prots as you call them? The other question I have is, who is this St. Innocent? and who sent him and why?All kinds.
McKinley had Alaska divided up into portions. Each missionary had a portion. One for Lutherans. One for Baptists. One for Episcopalians. One for Presbyterians etc etc.
Even during the Cold War days the local Coast Guard folks would use the icons for target practice.
In the 1700's St. Innocent, a bishop from Russia, went to Alaska to missionize to the Natives. He spent the first couple of years studying the languages, dialects and then made an alphabet for them using Cyrillic. Bibles and Liturgy books were translated for the people he went to. When the Prots came in, all these books and Bibles were thusly: burned.

St. Innocent of Alaska was a priest when he went as a missionary to Alaska. He went to preach to the native population. He was sent by the Russian Orthodox Church in the 1800's (made mistake on post before this).
The Protestants were of various groups and came after the US bought Alaska. They really started going during the Klondike Gold Rush.
http://www.outreachalaska.org/history.html This explains a bit of the history.
None of the above, Eastern Orthodox. Read up on Church history![]()
But, I still have a question or two. The church that sent this man, where are they located, thats #1, Protestant? #2 Catholic? #3 or? I wouldn't ask you understand, but its important to me.
In Christ,
Lee

Foxe's Book of Martyrs (though I know little about it) is a book of martyrs.
Is it all martyrs? Or is it only Protestant martyrs? Roman Catholic martyrs? Orthodox martyrs?
What kind of martyrs are in this book?
